I went to doctor today thinking this constant feeling of being so hot and sweating was signs of menopause but they are test blood for thyroid are the symptoms the same?

An overactive thyroid can cause your temperature regulation system to go awry so your GP is correct to test for that.

sage tea or capsules can help.

I'm impressed with your GP. This possibility is not always explored and several times, when, as a social worker, I suggested it may explain certain symptoms/behaviours, I was proved right........ and all improved with treatment....

Lucky you I suffered for years and it was only picked up during a private health screening.

Yes top marks for your GP.
I had to ask for a thyroid test along side my annual blood test after one of my work colleagues had had similar symptoms to me.
Otherwise, if the test is negative, sage capsules are pretty good - hope he checked your blood pressure as well !

Thanks for this. Me too! Making doctor's appointment now to get checked out

I am hot all the time too. I do have a slightly under active thyroid & take tablets now but TBH I have had this problem all my life as does younger son. We both had febrile convulsions as small children.
It is very useful in the winter though. I can never wear anything in bed no matter what the temperature is like outside. I sometimes start the night with a nightie on but it is always on the floor in the morning- I don't even remember taking it off!
DH says we save a fortune on heating bills.

However, if it turns out not to be your thyroid then it most probably is due to the menopause. Luckily we don’t have to suffer these days and there are plenty of treatments available.
Don’t be fobbed off by your GP if you are not offered any further help. There is some very useful and up to date information on this website that may be of help.

I sailed through the menopause - no mood swings or hot flushes - but now, about 12 years later, I find that any kind of exertion like gardening, housework, ironing, causes my face to go very red, and it takes ages to go back to normal. I’m an active person and this is spoiling so many activities for me. Perhaps I should ask my GP what this could be. Could sage tea help me do you think?
