I've only mild symptoms compared to some .
Not much information on menopause just read online and realised I've done symptoms and now realise what they are! Glad I read these.

Sweats, moods, no sex drive, crying over the most stupid things, I’ve had enough. Can’t get the right HRT as we just don’t have it in the U.K. I’m willing to pay for it as long as it works. Phoned doctors and said I needed to talk to a doctor. He phoned me and I couldn’t understand a word he said. I’m in the brink of killing someone.

I'm not sure I have already posted this {wink]wink To cut it short, I finished my periods when I was 'roughly' 61.5 then had not a single symptom - but now 4 years later, I've pretty much had (have) ALL of them! Night sweats, feelings of tremendous anxiety, digestive issues, chronic constipation, multitude of aches and pains and I'm TOTALLY sick and tired of the whole shebang!I spoke to the Dr on one of those pesky online consultations and all she was really interested in was the constipation issue and prescribed me some fibre supplements - all that did was BLOCK me up big time .... and she maintained it was a Thyroid issue - (which it isn't) as I've had a thyroid test and its all within normal range. My fear is that I have read that at 64 I am too old to go on HRT or similar so I've bought some Progesterone and Oestrogen cream from Biovea and as a back up some Wellsprings 20-1 (none of which has arrived yet. I've bought some FEMARELLE and they make me feel weird - so Ladies is there no HOPE for me????

Hi there,
I am going through something similar and I am 51.. I am still getting discharge after 10 weeks.. I went for an ultrasound and everything is fine.. usually this can happen in the endometrial line of the womb gets too thick and we bleed longer to get rid of this as this is the lining that is shed every month on a period.. they would thin this out through a process called ablation.. also if you take a natural progesterone cream
Can think this over time.. best first to have an ultrasound and a smear to allay your fears.. I have five both and five the but still bleeding too ..

Hi, I’m new so hello to everyone, I’m 51 next week and have been bleeding for 9 weeks.. I got my period and it haven’t stopped, it was heavy for 2 weeks and then spotting every day.. went to the doctor and she sent me fir an ultrasound which showed a small cyst about 3.5 but this had been there when I had my first child 15 years ago.. I’m still spotting more of a brown discharge with occasional pink spotting.. has anyone got this before as it doesn’t seem normal.. thank you in advance fir your replies ?

If you start having heavy periods make sure your doctor does regular blood tests for anaemia. As lockdown started DD had a telephone interview with her GP about this, he forgot to order such blood tests and she came very close to death, before the problem was discovered and emergency treatment began.

Hi, thank goodness I’ve found this group, been so upset today. I had my Mirena coil out in September and have had two spotting episodes since. I think I was on my way to the menopause when the coil was fitted put still was having light bleeds quite regularly. They stopped with Mirena but have resumed, doctor said I should be through the menopause and so this is classed as a post menopausal bleed. I will of course have this investigated as I have before ( dreading a third hystoscopy) but as anyone else had this with Mirena and similar age and circumstances.
Thank you in advance

No never been on statins- thanks for your reply- i meant to start a new thread! ?

Esspee Sat 10-Oct-20 16:56:24

Lyndawads. I have been contacted by many ladies who came off of HRT and have never heard of any who have experienced the symptoms you mention.
Do you take statins? Just a bit of guesswork, I have no medical qualifications.
Two weeks on HRT are unlikely to bring your oestradiol levels up to the level you were finding worked for you twelve months ago. Let’s hope you feel the full benefit by the end of the month.

Hi! I just wondered if any of you ladies have had any similar symptoms to me? I went through menopause at 44 and was on hrt for 11 years with no issues. I decided to wean myself off them slowly about 12 months ago and since then ive had terrible trouble with my joints generally but more specifically my shoulders and arms. Iam in pain trying to dress, wash my hair in the shower and many other everyday things that require stretching of my arms up or back. My doctor did blood checks to test for inflammation( to test for polymyalgia) which came back normal - so he has put me back on hrt as he thinks this is due to menopause- ive been back on it for two weeks and i am still in a lot of discomfort. Anyone suffered something similar?

Esspee Wed 06-May-20 08:02:56

@Lovecollies. Please make an appointment with your doctor. It is most unwise to ask a bunch of random ladies on the internet for a diagnosis.
Most GPs are doing telephone or video appointments at the moment.
Please do not delay.

Hi, I am experiencing what I think is menopause. But very confused. I just turned 44, I am a bit over three months with a period. I am bloated. So I just assumed I am going through menopause. But this is where the confusion begins.. off and on I have had cramps, feel like I'm going to start. And now I have more discharge. The kind you have when your ovulating. So I just need someone to explain what is happening!!! I'm so confused! Other than a few times in the last 10 years of missing a few periods. I am usually pretty regular. Anyway thank you for any help.

I honestly didn't realise that loss of libido was a symptom of the menopause. Although I went through the hot flush stage at 55 (I'm 62 now), I thought I had got off lightly. Now I know better - perhaps it's fortunate that my DH has also suffered from loss of libido due to anxiety and mild depression. I am so sorry to hear that, in this day and age, people are suffering such awful symptoms when there is no need. It makes me very cross that some male GPs are still living in the dark ages - and some female ones too, by the sound of it!

Welshgirl, wondering how you are doing this wk. I've been checking in to see if you have been around. Hopefully when you see how many of us ladies are chatting about this hateful time in our lives you don't feel so alone. Big hugs

lyndaann55 Sun 01-Mar-20 21:09:46

I'm 64 and I feel like I have a last burst of hormones!! night sweats, irritable, feeling low and have mood swings......HRT tablets in my early 50's did not agree with me. Was never offered alternatives … Any other ladies dealing with this ??

Esspee Sun 01-Mar-20 15:21:56

@justwokeup I've been taking estradiol for 31 years. It is manufactured from soy and yams. I'm sorry your daughter's misinformation has led to the problems you are experiencing now.

justwokeup Sun 01-Mar-20 13:34:52

Yes, Esspee it was 10 years ago. I guess things have changed since then. Very helpful advice, thank you.

Esspee Sun 01-Mar-20 12:02:46

@justwokeup. No doubt your daughter told you that mares urine was involved in the manufacture of HRT. Please let her know that that was in the dim, distant past.

It concerns me that uninformed people can put off those of us who otherwise could have a far superior quality of life from getting the help that we need.

The natural remedy is oestrogen. That is what your body lacks. Alternative medicine is unproven quackery. If it was proven to work and safe it would become standard medicine.

I would also suggest that you get a bone scan as after 10 years you almost certainly have osteoporosis and there are treatments for that which do not necessarily involve hormone replacement if you still don’t want to try it.

justwokeup Sun 01-Mar-20 11:35:06

My vegan DD put me off HRT when she told me how it was produced but, unlike many of you, my symptoms originally were just hot flushes and occasional unexplainable anxiety. Not too bad really. That began 10 yrs ago, now have dryness, tiredness, complete loss of libido and aching joints so I'll look into the 'natural' remedies. If I'd read advice from someone like Esspee earlier I might have done something earlier. Best wishes, Welshgirl, hope you improve soon.

Tree58 Sun 01-Mar-20 10:12:13

I've got every pigging symptom going and not suitable for HRT as it gives me thrush. I have enough trouble fighting that off with the dryness as it is. My IBS is also worse since the menopause symptoms ramped up a notch 2 years ago. Mind you, I've lost a stone in the last year due to the fact I can't eat anything fatty. No complaints there!
A decent diet helps, so does plenty of fresh air, gentle exercise (even just walking for half an hour a day), and talking about it to your family and friends. I find a lot of women don't talk about it but it's a huge part of your life. My husband is amazingly patient thank goodness, and keeps me laughing about it.
Stay positive. You're not alone x

FindingNemo15 Sun 01-Mar-20 09:55:17

I have had the menopause for about ten years, terrible sweats, aches, mood swings, etc. etc. Recently my GP prescribed a low dose blood pressure tablet and although it has not cured my symptoms the sweats are slightly less.

travelsafar Sun 01-Mar-20 08:30:13

It is not just male GPs who refuse HRT. I have a young female GP and when i asked about using HRT when i was in my early 60's she said No.
I have terrbile issues with my skin and joints which are causing me all sorts of mobility issues. Plus i feel really anxious all the time.I have told my daughter that as she gets to 'that' age go on HRT right from the start, dont try to 'ride' it through like i did. She sees the issues i have and obviously doesnt want to go the same way. Looking back my mum suffered the same things and HRT wasnt available then .
