Oh for heaven's sake! The world has gone mad. OK, call me a killjoy.............

getmehrt It was brilliant. Wish there was more to come. Haven't got a bicycle bell but our door bell rings with the tune...'When you are in love...' Mr soop chose it Perhaps I shall stand on the doorstep and ring away to my heart's content. Our one neighbour is hard of hearing [and like us, slightly barmy] he'll not bat an eyelid.

Well, that's what it says in the paper. [shrug]

I've got one of those bells. The chain has fallen off so I'll have to use a bit of baler twine.

So, if I do make a racket jangling the bell outside the back door (used to call DH in from the shed), everyone in the area will know why I'm doing it?

Ha! Did anyone see Twenty-twelve last night? There was a joke about everyone banging saucepans for a minute - supposedly an antidote to a minute's silence. It wasn't the best episode but still some very funny moments.

Kitchen timer?

That might please people round here as Big Ben was cast in the local bell foundry. There was up roar when the manufacture of the bell at the centre of the Olympics was awarded to a different company and then cast in Holland. Especially as Seb Coe used to train at the local university

I have a Big Ben chime on my door bell I guess I can get OH to stand at the front door ringing...
