For a while my high school class had 3 Margarets, 2 Jeans, 2 Sandras and 3 Linda's. Oh and 2 Johns. That in a class of 30. What a lack of imagination!

A lot of Susans, Margarets and Jeans when I was at primary school. I hated my name because no one else had it! confused

I really wanted to be called Carol envy

I hate my name, and it really dates me. I would love to have a timeless name but it seems a bit late to change it now. My family would never let me live it down.

I'm Susan (circa 1954) a very popular 50s name judging by the number of Susans in my age group. I hate it and I always have.

There were loads of Carols and Janices in my year at secondary school.. we must all be 60/61 now!

I wanted to call my daughter Rosamund but DH disagreed..it is her much disapproved of (by her) middle name! confused

When I was very young (about 5 or 6) I had a friend called Marilyn. I continue to be surprised by how few 'Marilyn's there were, and are, considering the popularity of Ms Monroe...?

I like untrendy names that never really go out of fashion but when my DD was born I nearly called her Demelza after the character in Poldark. Thank goodness I took notice of the look of horror on DH's face. shock

I have been enjoying all the articles about this over the last couple of days. Pleased to see "proper" names like Amelia and Harry at the top of the list. Amused to see "old fashioned" names like Florence and Edie making such a big come back. Very interesting to see the trends and how events affect it all - a big rise in Kates (no surprise there) but also people naming their babies after X Factor contestants - which I find slightly depressing.
