definition of rape

Remember the awful case in Austria where the father imprisoned his daughter in the cellar for years and repeatedly raped her and she had quite a few children, wonder what the mad Republicans made of that!

Rape is the only crime where the victim is treated as the guilty party. How many women have been penalised and humiliated because they had a legally active sex prior to the rape but chose not to want to have sex with this particular man.

A friend of mine was raped but the police wouldn't touch it. She and a friend had been on a night out and met two men one of whom her friend knew. The men joined them and they spent the night out together. Later they went back to one man's flat to share pizza and wine. During this time one of the men put something in my friend's drink. She remembers taking the drink and the next thing she was on the sofa in another room with the man on top of her. The police said she didn't stand a chance of proving rape because she had willingly spent the night out with him, drunk and had gone back to the flat despite the fact that she had no intention of having sex with him.

I think even a nun in a habit could be accused of being provocative....think about it....she is tempting men to want to see her body by the act of hiding it and flaunting her virginity.

Ah! BaNANA - but it might affect them as the accused rather than the victim. Lots of men, not sure if they are squeaky clean themselves, are liable to support the 'poor sexual ettiquete', 'misunderstanding', 'we were both drunk' excuses. They do not want legislation to be as clear cut as 'No means No'.

As to the Senator - I think he still believes the old chestnut from 50 years ago, (which fortunately I did not believe) - that you cannot get pregnant if you don't orgasam, as egg is only released by orgasm. His reasoning is that if a woman becomes pregnant as a result of a rape, then it cannot have been rape because she obviously enjoyed it!

Wonder if he is still opposed to formal sex education?

Yesterday's PM (5-6) was quite explicit in what constitutes rape and I wondered if any Mums giving their children tea might have had to deal with some potentially embarrassing questions?

I remember this case vividly. The girl was from a poor background and I have no doubt the judge would not have made that comment about a middle class girl.

I think there have been enough women who have lived in war zones and have been raped and then subsequently become pregnant to disprove this ludicrous theory.
