Having seen the photo of the creature, a moggy if ever there was one!Honestly you can tell its the 'silly season'. Shame the police had to spend so much time on it.

Go on the Hunt, tell us a few please!

NfkDumpling Thu 30-Aug-12 07:34:59

Well, it was a good training exercise.

Hunt Wed 29-Aug-12 23:22:26

It has sparked a lot of amusing ''Essex'' and ''lion'' jokes!

fish perhaps but not people.

JO4 Wed 29-Aug-12 11:54:40

They can kill.

JessM Wed 29-Aug-12 08:20:04

I saw a big sinuous furry black animal slinking across my path the other day. Was it a panther, you ask.
Or even an otter.
No, it was a mink.

JessM Wed 29-Aug-12 08:18:56

Classic silly season news story. Been done before. A few times. Big lioness yawn emoticon

absentgrana Wed 29-Aug-12 08:01:26

HildaW You're quite right. An experiment was done with visitors to Disneyland and all were persuaded that they had seen Bugs Bunny (a Warner Brothers cartoon character).

JO4 Tue 28-Aug-12 22:51:29

anno wotsit he's trying to find another lion to communicate with. Poor thing. sad

JO4 Tue 28-Aug-12 22:50:15

We've been laughing at the telly presenter who stands in a field doing a piece to camera saying it's all been a hoax. Why can we not take our eyes of the hedge behind him? shock

annodomini Tue 28-Aug-12 20:50:05

Lions roar to communicate with other lions. A solitary lion doesn't roar.

JO4 Tue 28-Aug-12 20:36:27

It's loud and scary Anno!

...........it could be still out there..........

And they can travel..............

annodomini Tue 28-Aug-12 20:17:51

How many people know what a lion's roar sounds like?

HildaW Tue 28-Aug-12 20:05:30

Psychologists can give you chapter and verse about eye-witness accuracy. Its quite bizarre what people can think they have seen or heard.

NfkDumpling Tue 28-Aug-12 19:51:43

grin

JO4 Tue 28-Aug-12 19:49:37

What about the roars? People heard it ROAR!!! shock

tanith Tue 28-Aug-12 19:20:52

I do think its possible for people to genuinely think they've seen a 'big cat' as there usually isn't any way to gauge the scale at long distances , if its a genuine mistake I'm sure no one would blame them for reporting it just in case.
