Houses of Parliament

There has been a suggestion that the Houses of Parliament should be shut for five years for extensive and expensive refurbishment. Meanwhile, MPs would be moved to a replica chamber elsewhere.

I think it would be better to demolish them. I consider them to be among the ugliest buildings in London. They are also completely unfit for their purpose and will remain so even if repaired. However, they are listed buildings so I suppose that is unlikely to happen.

However, we could save money if we simply did away with MPs for five years rather than fiddling about with a replica chamber. Will they also have replica subsidised restaurants and bars?

Poundbury looks like the outer circle of hell to me JO4 so I definitely think the PoW and Mrs Cornwall should have to move there.

But I thought PoW helped to 'design' Poundbury.. he should put his money where his mouth is!

Re HP..it is a symbolic building but I like the idea of centralising the seat of Parliament by moving it to the middle /North of England.

nanaej Yes he did. That's why I think he should be punished by being compelled to live there.

Granada studios has a mock up of the House of Commons so they can all meet there instead. Will do them good to see that there is life north of Watford.

The Lords can meet in one of the many churches in London.
