In any case, blasphemy laws are a crime, which is a good enough reason to sign the petition in itself.

Yes, of course, jura. But the death penalty is there because the blasphemy law is there, so somehow religion seems relevant. Also, it's a child of Christian parents in a largely Muslim country. That is possibly irrelevant but somehow I don't think so in this case.

You're right to mention it though. The child, after all, is a child, and could not be said to have any religion until she is old enough to decide for herself. This child may never have reached that stage if her mental capacity were to remain impaired, whcih some information suggests it is, in that she apparently lacks understanding a child her age would usually be expected to have.

Does it matter if the child is of Christian, atheist, Muslim, whatever, parents?

I'd hope that if it was a Muslim child, you'd still sign.

Here is the link to a petition to try and save the life of a child Christian parents in Pakistan, who has been sentenced to death for the victimless 'crime' of blasphemy. Please go to it and sign.
