The taliban have (apparently) said........

that Harry has been sent to Afghanistan to get him away from the Vegas fallout.

Not a wise move on their part I would have thought. Won't saying that kind of thing make him even more determined to aim straight and get the buggers? (He is doing the shooting from the helicopter, not the flying)

vampirequeen Mon 10-Sept-12 13:56:57

I have to admit I had the same thought as the Taliban. They want to respin is image back to hero so he's been sent back to Afghanistan.

Anagram Mon 10-Sept-12 14:00:23

You mean he wasn't set to go anyway? They suddenly changed all previous plans just to put him in a good light with the public? hmm

JO4 Mon 10-Sept-12 14:51:42

It would have been planned well beforehand. They would hardly tell people about it though.

But that's not my point! hmm

Never mind. hmm

Ella46 Mon 10-Sept-12 14:57:23

It seems a tad irresponsible to announce to the world that he's back there, just to make him look good! They didn't last time, and when he was outed they brought him home. confused

Anagram Mon 10-Sept-12 15:16:41

I know that wasn't your point, jingl. I was replying to vampirequeen's post.

JO4 Mon 10-Sept-12 15:17:15

Yes. But he's going to shoot them extra hard now.

vampirequeen Tue 11-Sept-12 10:48:45

It may have been planned but last time it was all secret. This time it's 'Harry the hero' because they need to rebuild his image.

JO4 Tue 11-Sept-12 10:51:27

Yes, well, he is a hero!

So there!

grin

JO4 It's a long time since I handled a gun but how do you shoot someone "extra hard"?

JO4 Tue 11-Sept-12 11:11:48

You know what I mean!

Don't be difficult.

wink

absentgrana Tue 11-Sept-12 11:14:36

Actually JO4 I don't think I do. Presumably, a soldier is expected to shoot accurately and effectively at all times so I'm not sure what "extra" could be added.

Our lovely Harry will have been informed of his regiments plans months ago,he always said he wished to return after the his last posting and has got his wish, him being is LV and his enjoyment there will have nothing to do with his posting at all, when my boys where deployed they also went out and enjoyed themselves but they are not as high profile ofcourse but his job and the job my two did are vitally important jobs which all of their critic's could not manage to do or have the courage to do.

vampirequeen Tue 11-Sept-12 14:02:33

I have no problem with what Harry did in LV. It was probably one of the more normal things that's ever been reported about him.

I'm not criticising Harry but the spin that's been put on his redeployment.

POGS Tue 11-Sept-12 21:36:24

glammanana.

One word. 'Respect'. Thank your boys from me.

nainnainnain Mon 17-Sept-12 21:09:23

I'm inclined to agree with Ella: I find it dead worrying that the Taliban now know where Harry is. God help us if they manage to kill him! I find myself thinking "Archduke Ferdinand" if you know what I mean.

On the other hand, worrying doesn't change anything, so perhaps we should just drink the wine and let the future take care of itself; come to think of it, didn't Jesus say something like that? - not about the wine perhaps. . . .

grannyactivist Mon 17-Sept-12 21:52:11

I think the difference this time is that the organisation was prepared for his presence being made known and made contingency plans accordingly. Last time there was the hope that his presence could have been kept secret.

Anagram Mon 17-Sept-12 21:55:28

And he's not on the ground, this time.

absentgrana Tue 18-Sept-12 10:14:57

Well he's bound to be on the ground some of the time and clearly Camp Bastion is not as impregnable as the MOD thought.
