Just bumped that thread back up again when.
Adverts that are being shown on the tele
When a political leader lies on their CV - can you trust them?
Do you believe the allegations that he groomed underage girls for sex and if so, do you hold accountable those in the media/BBC et al who heard rumours, had suspicions, saw evidence etc., but said nothing (probably to protect their careers)?
Personally, I always thought he was weird - even going back as far as schooldays when he was an up and coming DJ. I wouldn't have been at all surprised if all this had come out years ago and maybe it should.
Just bumped that thread back up again when.
Even though the people who weren't listened to as children may now get some sort of 'closure' or at least see some abusers bought to justice, I fear that they will have to re-live their horrendous experiences and they might not all feel any better at the end of it. But, they know they are not alone and we are with them in increasing numbers. Please do all go to the thread that is asking everyone to send cards to the BBC and the Prime Minister in the next few days. We have an opportunity to overwhelm the authorities with the weight of our protests about cover-ups and corruption not being tolerated.
The other outcome of revealing historical abuse is that it may give the victims some kind of closure if the abuse has been eating away at them for many years when they have felt unable to talk about it. This is probably the reason why the Savile scandal has opened the floodgates to the North Wales alleged cover-up. The victims can now come forward knowing that they are far from being alone.
You are absolutely right Whenim, is a very difficult area.
This man has 4 grand daughters now so it is a real worry.
Can only hope that it was one off with my friend, and she feels guilty that she could have stopped him!! Why does this always happen? the victim feels is their fault.
As she was only 12 I can imagine it would not have been easy she probably felt flattered to start with.
I do not think she will risk the huge family fall out now.
Thanks Whenim for that information.
Celebgran the good that comes from outing historical abuse many years after is that it deals with an abuser who might not otherwise stop. If young children he has access to are not protected because no-one knows he is a risk, more lives will be ruined.
As has been related on here several times, families do get upset. Personally, I woud rather be upset to hear such a disclosure, than to discover that another child has been abused because I didn't know what he had done previously. It's not an easy call, I know, but children cannot protect themselves. They rely on adults to keep them safe.
gosh Whenim it makes depressing reading!
I have no knowledge of Masons or Freemasons, so I cannot possible comment, I am aware of the "scratch my back I do yours!" set up that goes on in most walks of life.
It is awful to think of young boys being hurt and upset and boarding schools, even worse to think of the vulnerable girls at that school being used by Saville.
I do know someone who was abused by her brother in law when she was only 12 right up until her late teens when she found strength to stand up to him. Nowadays I think am right in saying he could have been prosecuted?
After so many years no good would come of upsetting family I do not think this pervert is still married to her sister.
That was about the Ripper thing btw.
OMG!
That's ridiculous!
Didn't get him for paedophilia yet thought he might be a serial murderer! Yeah right.
Exactly whenim - such a creepy story. The masons will continue to thrive because it is people in power who belong. I think the whole setup is utterly pathetic.
My FIL was a very small man and I think his determination to be a mason stemmed from his need to boost his ego in every way he could (terrorizing his children featured as well).
Interestingly he dropped dead whilst giving a speech at a masonic dinner!
I read that yesterday, Marelli but it was the Mail online so I kept it to myself.

It beggars belief that these things were going on and nobody blew any kind of whistle. The man walked on water.
Heard on the news this morning that Savile had been questioned by the police at the time of the Ripper murders.
Mishap you're right. In the 90s, my therapist colleague was followed into the gents toilets of a pub near where he lived, and told by a 'friendly' mason that he might want to produce a favourable report on a sex offender to stop him going back to prison, in return for some 'help' with approving the mortgage he had just applied for. He was terrified, thinking that he was being watched. He had a young son, the same age as the child the sex offender had abducted. The following week, the offender dropped into the conversation that he played golf on the course behind his house. He was so distressed, took sick leave and ended taking early retirement. None of us felt safe to talk to anyone about it, as we didn't know who was leaking information. The offender got arrested for further offences, and the masons may have decided to back off, as we heard no more. Sinister! These things need to be brought out into the open.
It is a sad old world - these establishment figures who went through public schools have no idea about the world that the rest of us inhabit. They go through these abnormal experiences, then fall into positions of power where they have control over others, but lack awareness of what is "normal."
I have a particular gripe about the masons - my FIL was one and the more I heard the more I was sickened. It is a route for these perverts to pursue their evil ways secure in the knowledge that their "brothers" will keep schtumm. It is full of insecure men trying to boost their egos by a secretive camaraderie.
We need to clear out these types asap! The House of Lords and the Royal Household are, and always have been, full of individuals and groups who believe they are above the law, and will do all they can to sabotage change.
The "that's how it is and has always been" argument no longer stands up, after all we no longer send little boys up chimneys, do we?
Oh dear! So depressing and distressing.
Greatnan sounds like you have found some of the sites I have been looking at. When we did presentations for judges and magistrates, we were stunned to hear some of their opinions. So many had been involved in what they saw as the natural order of things at public and boarding schools i.e. engaging in sexual abuse of new boys, having been initiated themselves. They described how the masters would look in on them in their dorms and ignore crying boys, who were assumed to be homesick. We had a couple of 'tame' judges who really took up the cause, but some resented learning about sexual abuse and commented that we should understand 'that's how men are, my dear.' I fear that the powerful 'elite' who have come through such systems have a vested interest in controlling how investigations are competed and published, and protecting the high profile offenders. It's shocking to see so many familiar names and how evidence is presented to link them to missing children and abuse in children's homes. It does go some way to explain why Savile believed he could threaten victims and be sure of protection at the highest level. There's something very rotten at the core of the Establishment. So troubling.
Did anyone hear The Jeremy Vine show on Radio 2 today, it was heartbreaking hearing a guy who had phoned in about his abuse in children's homes in Wales in the 70's.
Is it just me but I'm starting to worry that the world is still pretty much run by men who spend a great deal of their lives just thinking about sex with anyone possible
. I'm [obviously] not a man so it's something I'll never understand.
It gets worse and worse - according to the various sites I have found on google, the paedophile ring involved many men at the very top of our parliamentary, judicial, educational and socials sytems, who were protected by senior police officers. Scallywag magazine even reported that some victims had been murdered to stop them speaking out. The details of what happened to the boys (and some girls) are sickening. These people knew no pity - they seemed to regard working-class boys as unworthy of being treated as human beings. The public school system has a lot to answer for.
Please support the campaign Notso has highlighted. A chance to get many voices heard.
I've started a new thread......Cards for Justice. It's a long first post, but worth reading. Basically, a campaign to send cards to the BBC and Downing Street. A simple expression of 'people power' that can result in thousands of bulging mail sacks.
Jingle apropos of nothing, our two posts may possibly be linked to Ana's
Yes, you've got that one Ana. He had a less prominent role in the government of the time, whereas this other one was very, very high profile.
That last post was apropos of nothing at all.
