Bashing political parties

The Tories have come in for a fair amount of criticism on GN – not surprisingly as they are the senior party in the coalition. Lib Dems have had a bit of a walloping over their craven capitulation in return for power.

So what about all the other parties – are they beyond reproach? hmm Is Labour still New Labour and is that good or bad? Does Respect inspire respect? Is UKIP a way forward? Do the greens do more than hug trees?

Party politics is very divisive. There are parties who appeal to our inner socialist 'he ain't heavy, he's my brother' and those who appeal to our latent fascist 'if they won't work then cut off their benefits' and those who appeal to our patriotism 'jobs for the British, close our borders' and all flavours in between.
The problem is we are all a bit of everything and even with leanings on way or another our views change depending on age and circumstances.
But most of all the parties do not live up to their expectations.
How can they? They are only in power for 5 years at a time at the whim of the general public. And if their measures are too populist or too draconian they're voted out. And most people are unrealistic. They want lower taxes and council tax yet at the same time the best services. It just don't work!!!
No, I don't have a solution and yes I'm apolitical.

Names are often shortened to save time. I don't mind being addressed as 'Great'! grin

Good post Ocra, I agree I would certainly put myself in the "bit of everything" category.
