Should MPs volunteer for reality TV?

Or should they wait until their retire?
Conservative MP for mid beds has volunteered for "I'm a celebrity". Some people think this is inappropriate for a member of parliament.
What do we think about this?

Sorry, I don't see the connection, Kennedy. hmm

Kennedy Wed 14-Nov-12 09:49:29

I see that Margaret Kaines book Song for a Butterfly is on free download from Amazon
today and tomorrow, Wednesday and Thursday of this week.

I am just about to download it now.

Don't watch reality programes, nothing real about them including the stars.

Nanadog Fri 09-Nov-12 09:41:59

I'd love my MP to be sent to a jungle of 30 days. He's such stuck-up, out-of-touch-with-reality, ex-public-school, Tory git that I'd live to see him have to rough it with z list celebs grin

Go on dorset tell us what you really think. grin

I wouldn't be delighted if my MP appeared on this awful programme which is usually filled with hasbeens and wannabes. She is paid [out of our taxes] to represent us in Parliament not eat live insects - how can anyone take her seriously? Silly cow

Grannybags Wed 07-Nov-12 15:27:45

At least she's used to being with bugs, cockroaches, snakes etc.....!wink

Woody Wed 07-Nov-12 15:21:24

I live in the Mid Beds constituency for which she is an MP. Guess who wont be getting my vote next time - that is if she is still around then!

Nanadog Wed 07-Nov-12 09:11:31

feetle grin

feetlebaum Wed 07-Nov-12 09:08:40

I could fancy Christine Hamilton...

absentgrana Wed 07-Nov-12 08:18:03

Nanadog Yes, look at the ghastly Hamiltons.

Nanadog Wed 07-Nov-12 08:13:13

Crazy as it may seem I think she's made a wise career move. As one door closes so another......?????

JessM Wed 07-Nov-12 07:40:17

Hasn't Cleggy blocked the Tory proposal for boundary changes?

kittylester Wed 07-Nov-12 07:26:41

Wasn't she about to lose her seat in boundary changes anyway?

kittylester Wed 07-Nov-12 07:26:38

No, I think Nadine Dorries has become very disillusioned and bitter since being in government and knew exactly what the reaction would be to her decision to sign up to I'm a Celeb (which she isn't, but then half of them aren't anyway!). It's a two fingered gesture to the 'posh boys' at the top, and I don't think she gives a damn about the consequences to her career.
(Only my opinion, of course!)

Resign the way Louise Mensch jumped before she was pushed, you mean Ana? (Her husband really landed her in it didn't he?)grin

Nanadog Tue 06-Nov-12 20:35:59

gracesmum grin

Ana Tue 06-Nov-12 19:56:45

I suspect it's a Grand Gesture and she was going to resign anyway. She must have known what would happen.

gracesmum Tue 06-Nov-12 19:53:15

PS for the rest of my humble opinion - see the Nadine Dorries thread!

gracesmum Tue 06-Nov-12 19:52:06

My sympathy goes to the witchety grubs, I'd be pickier about who ate me!grin

Jodi Tue 06-Nov-12 19:45:24

She didn't inform anyone apparently. Neither her local constituency party nor her parliamentary one. Of course she should be suspended. If you or I took 30 days leave without informing our manager/company/boss we'd be sacked. Silly moo. hmm

titch02 Tue 06-Nov-12 19:09:53

leave her there for as long as possible and keep voting for her to do the Jungle task's. She will be begging to be voted of. He-He grin

absentgrana Tue 06-Nov-12 19:03:29

Not unless they want to make complete prats of themselves. Easily done by some of them, even without reality TV.

NfkDumpling Tue 06-Nov-12 19:00:04

I certainly wouldn't vote for her next time if she was my MP. Exhibitionist!

Perhaps they could suspend most of the MP's who vanish off on unnecessary jollies at our expense. At least we're not paying for her to go.
