William Roache thinks abuse victims might bring it on themselves - pardon me??

I know he has some bizarre views, and as well as defending celeb abusers, William Roache has now announced that sexual abuse victims are being punished for previous sins. I think this 80-year old philanderer needs to keep his big mouth closed if all he can come out with is rubbish like that. I believe he is out of the country at the moment. I wouldn't like to be him when his plane touches back down in the UK!

I might have excused him on the grounds of his age, possibly he has lost a few marbles, but he has been a lifelong supporter of the Conservative party!

merlotgran Tue 19-Mar-13 18:20:14

I KNEW Deidre should have gone off with Mike Baldwin. grin

LullyDully Tue 19-Mar-13 18:07:13

Well at least no one seems to have taken him in the least bit seriously so job done! He is obviously daft.

Actually, apologising only makes matters worse. If what he said is, as he says, what he truly believes, however abhorrent to other people, then why is he now backing down and apologising for the remarks.

It suggests that these views are not core to his faith but he is being an apologist for those of his friends are now being charged with sexual offences.

Jadey Interviewing a dog would probably have produced more sense than the interview with this loopy man. grin

Jadey Tue 19-Mar-13 15:11:32

This man is weired, he had numerous affairs when he was married and believes that dogs talk to humans!!

He is such an idiot and I feel upset for victims of abuse being insulted in this way angry

Here here bluebell

I am just fed up of people saying sorry - my mother used to say 'sorry isn't good enough.... 'Celebs' have easy access to the media and therefore have a responsibility to weigh their words carefully - I would say think before you speak but I doubt he is capable of such activity.

whenim64 Tue 19-Mar-13 14:29:51

Well, well ....I Googled the Pure Love Movement that he belongs to, and discovered that it is based a couple of miles away from my home, in Altrincham. It's a small movement - 13 members and I can join for a fiver! grin

Eloethan Tue 19-Mar-13 14:10:15

bluebell Yes, I bet the Conservatives are ever so pleased they've got him in their camp!

"The Pure Love Movement" sounds anything but.

Marelli Tue 19-Mar-13 14:00:53

What an a**e! The man is off his chump. angry

whenim64 Tue 19-Mar-13 13:48:28

Dn't worry, folks - he's just been on TV telling us we misunderstood him!! Even the reporter was moved to advise 'you heard what he has said, if you think you misunderstood.....' Idiot!

gillybob Tue 19-Mar-13 13:45:03

Isn't ha (and his son) a member of some crazy cult or other? Might have got that wrong but I am sure I read it somewhere.

News flash on Sky news just said that he has apologised for his comments. Well it's too late matey ! Idiot.

Notso Tue 19-Mar-13 13:32:28

Horrible man.

glassortwo Tue 19-Mar-13 13:32:16

What a plonker.

bluebell Tue 19-Mar-13 13:29:27

Life long supporter of Conservative Party also

feetlebaum Tue 19-Mar-13 12:42:56

... a further quote, from a local newspaper in 2006 - "few of his fans know that the actor who plays Ken, William Roache, has a life-long interest in all things psychic and supernatural."

Says it all really.

feetlebaum Tue 19-Mar-13 12:39:02

"William Roache thinks..." Thinking is not his long suite, obviously when you consider "his interest in astrology which he learned by taking a correspondence course from the Faculty of Astrological Studies"

What a twonk! Duh...

sunseeker Tue 19-Mar-13 12:37:00

When I first heard this I thought I had misheard - I can't believe that someone would be so crass as to make such a remark. I vaguely recall him in Corrie as I used to watch it when I was much younger. As for defending pop stars who are accused of being sexual predators, perhaps its because of his own activities.

Seems he only opens his mouth to change foot!

Ana Tue 19-Mar-13 12:31:35

And didn't he claim damages for that, saying it was a slur on his character? hmm

Lilygran Tue 19-Mar-13 12:24:35

Wasn't he once voted the most boring man on TV?
