whenim64 Sat 06-Jul-13 23:00:23

What a jerk!

merlotgran Sat 06-Jul-13 23:01:37

Sorry, bluebell, we posted at the same time. The man's a t**t.

bluebell Sat 06-Jul-13 23:02:41

Public school educated - I use the latter word loosely!!

bluebell Sat 06-Jul-13 23:04:21

He's done this before - why the hell should my licence money pay this sexist * salary?

Oldgreymare Sat 06-Jul-13 23:06:04

No.2 son has never forgiven J.I. for casually reclining his seat which sent son's glass of wine cascading down his front, J.I. did not apologise.
He's rude and opinionated and has made a little talent go a long way.

gracesmum Sat 06-Jul-13 23:06:21

Wretched ipads- censoring your thread title!!grin As if you could tell the difference between Inverdale himself and the back of a Routemaster busgrin

merlotgran Sat 06-Jul-13 23:10:24

Apparently Inverdale has said he was only making fun in a nice way....Good job he wasn't being nasty then.

bluebell Sat 06-Jul-13 23:18:07

Yes- making fun in a nice way - what century does this 'man' live in? What are the BBC going to do?

absent Sat 06-Jul-13 23:27:19

Will he be making similarly appropriate comments about the men's champion? There is nothing "fun" or "nice" in his sexist remark. What a dinosaur! angry

Eloethan Sat 06-Jul-13 23:38:00

Disgraceful.

bluebell Sat 06-Jul-13 23:57:23

Why is the BBC apologising for him and not suspending him? Comments like that, and previous ones he had made just demonstrate a mind set that is beyond redemption. What message does it send? I did like the tweet however which said Bartoli had a double win today - Wimbledon AND Inverdale not fancying her!

Greatnan Sun 07-Jul-13 07:24:23

Has he ever commented on a male player's looks? Another McCarrick!
Very little support for him, even amongst DT readers.

JessM Sun 07-Jul-13 07:32:50

I am outraged. Time for the BBC to send smug dinosaurs like John Inverdale on a re-eduction camp in a grotty hostel in the middle of nowhere with no bar for about 6 months. Or lose their extremely highly paid jobs.
Whatever next, speculating that Lee Halfpenny's mum said
"Well Lee, you're not bad at rugby, and you're as pretty as a picture. The girls will go mad for you. So what you should do is use your rugby to get a modelling contract and your career is made!"

Greatnan Sun 07-Jul-13 07:35:53

They could send him to my home town! They have already sent many others there.

MiceElf Sun 07-Jul-13 07:55:48

Make sure you complain to the Beeb on their site. I've just done it.

bluebell Sun 07-Jul-13 08:32:22

Still cross this morning - the message that keeps being sent to women and girls - and thus to boys and men. I expect nothing more from much of the tabloid press but the BBC should be setting standards . I'm a great supporter of the BBC whilst acknowledging its faults but it holds a very privileged position and therefore has greater responsibilities. Bartoli has been very dignified in her response. I expect that other disgrace Clarkson will be riding to Inverdales defence soon ( another public school oik) . Can't resist comments about public school products as elsewhere we are told what a truly dreadful job state schools are doing.

bluebell Sun 07-Jul-13 08:33:31

He has two daughters - hope for their sake they pass the 'looker' test

Grannyknot Sun 07-Jul-13 08:38:30

I missed this when watching the end of the match, husband and I were both commenting on what a gorgeous, refreshing and natural person she is. Whoever the non-entity Inverdale may be, he clearly has no idea of what constitutes a true winner.

JessM Sun 07-Jul-13 13:19:02

he usually leads the presentation team for international rugby. Which might explain a lot.

JessM Sun 07-Jul-13 13:19:32

Lets clone Ms Balding and get rid of all those chauvinist dinosaurs!

Tegan Sun 07-Jul-13 13:26:16

But lets not forget what Clare said to poor Liam about his teeth sad. Which was probably much worse [taken in context] than what John Inverdale did [I mean, he didn't ask Marion to parade on screen to prove his point]. Having said that, my opinion of him has changed due to what OGM has said about him. Someone I knew met John Craven once and said he was quite rude and unpleasant, so perhaps it comes with the job [although Clare is lovely on screen and off and was mortified about her comments on Liams teeth].
