I know I shouldn't laugh but, honestly! grin

j08 Fri 09-Aug-13 13:11:49

Do carry on.

Ana Fri 09-Aug-13 13:11:57

Yeah - you're going to get Told Off soon, gillybob! grin

j08 Fri 09-Aug-13 13:12:27

You are doing very well.

gillybob Fri 09-Aug-13 13:14:15

I am used to getting told off Ana Its like water off a duck back !

jingle Scared emoticon

j08 Fri 09-Aug-13 13:15:02

Our rule was that you had to make sense on every thread. (too easy otherwise)

And avoid any sensitive threads (like, 'my dog died')

j08 Fri 09-Aug-13 13:15:34

Why are you scared?

gillybob Fri 09-Aug-13 13:17:15

Well there's plenty of people who rabbit on about stuff make no sense to me whatsoever.

gillybob Fri 09-Aug-13 13:20:44

Wrong end of stick jingle I took the You are doing well to mean....

You are doing well.......... enough to get a slap around the ...... grin

Elegran Fri 09-Aug-13 13:45:42

It ssems shorter than two years, jings, but I am sure you are right. Yes, eighteen months ago I was not likely to be so frivolous.

Is it just me, or were we all more light-hearted then? The threads at the moment seem full of very heavy "discussions".

petallus Fri 09-Aug-13 13:47:44

I am guessing you are having a contest to see who can comment on the most threads the most.

Galen Fri 09-Aug-13 13:52:38

Elegran perhaps we should get Frankto post more to keep the lightheartedness up?

petallus Fri 09-Aug-13 13:56:35

Or is being polite and positive?

What a tease!

Nonu Fri 09-Aug-13 14:03:26

Petallus wink

j08 Fri 09-Aug-13 14:04:32

I remember it well Elegran. It was a Saturday afternoon. I know what you mean about eighteen months ago. [hug]

Elegran Fri 09-Aug-13 14:22:58

Oddly enough, I am feeling quite lighthearted today. I think it is because I have just made a sensible decision and can feel a weight lifted from my shoulders. Never mind what it is. You know the feeling?

j08 Fri 09-Aug-13 14:28:58

Yes. Good! sunshine

grannyJillyT Fri 09-Aug-13 16:41:29

I bet he doesen't! Look at the newspaper headlines today, Says it all......

hmm

trendygran Fri 09-Aug-13 17:38:00

Just read that Bloom is now saying that 'Bongo Bongo' is not racist, but means 'Antelope Land'!! Nice one! Maybe ,as he says, in the Oxford Dictionary, but am sure he wasn't thinking about them when he made his gaffe.

j08 Fri 09-Aug-13 18:14:28

Time he stopped digging. He's blown it.

absent Fri 09-Aug-13 20:07:53

UK overseas aid is 0.7% of GDP, I think. Not a lot in the great scheme of things.

Ariadne Fri 09-Aug-13 20:23:09

Frank - lighthearted? Does not compute at all!

Eloethan Sat 10-Aug-13 00:23:23

Cameron has already acknowledged that, alongside the intention of helping the poor in other countries, aid money is partly given out of self-interest. His example was that people in impoverished countries would not be so tempted to try and get into the UK if their own standard of living was raised. I believe there is also ample evidence of aid being tied to trades deals.

I think the term "Bongobongo land" is ignorant, rude and - yes - racist.

j08 Fri 20-Sept-13 22:27:26

boobed again then grin

Not the best idea, to call the women at the Conference "sluts" (!) but I did rather like the clip round the journalist's ear with the programme.

Greatnan Sat 21-Sept-13 07:12:41

Thanks, jingle - I love UKIP, not only will they split the conservative vote but they are a rich source of amusement.
When I opened your link, it led me to a very important piece about organ donation - a conference is taking place with leaders of all the major religions to see what can be done to encourage people to accept giving and receiving organs.

It gave me such a good laugh when I heard this on the news yesterday. Nigel Farrage must be cringing with embarrassment, especially Godfrey Bloom's run in with the journalist, which sounded hilarious. UKIP have embodied the Monster Raving Loony Party grin
