I've actually always had a problem with the word 'slut'. I once got into terrible trouble for calling DD one when she'd left her bedroom in a mess - I'd meant she was slovenly, nothing to do with her sexual morals! It's just possible Bloom was under the same misconception...

That is exactly what I think. I'm sure the word used to mean slovenly. Can't help feeling sorry for the poor old bu codger.

Though why he was talking to the women about their house cleaning habits, I don't know! Just a bit sexist! grin

It was a hoot, it wan't the word slut but that he assumes cleaning behind the fridge is a female only task that dates the old boy

Galen Sat 21-Sept-13 12:53:45

Yes, it really does date him!
(Thinks, when did I last see behind my fridge, let alone clean behind it? I can't even move it, it's bigger than me!)

Ana Sat 21-Sept-13 13:00:35

I don't clean behind mine, except when we've moved house and the shame made me do it...

I wonder what size of retainer the other parties are paying the old chap to keep UKIP strictly in the realms of farce? I understand everybody laughed at his feeble jest and then got their attack of outrage afterwards. (But as journalists know, never let the truth get in the way of a good story)
Has anyone truly taken offence? I wouldn't have although I might have attempted a "robust" response.

The Guardian printed a picture of Nigel Farrage looking really stupid with his mouth open and his head thrown back this morning.

It won't work with me because luckily I've read 1984 and seen the film.
