I don't know about you, jingle, but I am extremely happy tonight! My son-in-law has been appointed as harbourmaster/pilot in Nelson harbour and they have bought a lovely new house, with lots of room for me to visit. I am radiating love and peace to all Gransnetters. smile

MiceElf Thu 12-Sept-13 22:02:17

Jo I shall pray for you. Even if it makes you crosser smile

j08 Thu 12-Sept-13 22:03:37

That really is lovely Greatnan. Very pleased for you. smile

j08 Thu 12-Sept-13 22:04:29

Sel Thu 12-Sept-13 22:10:38

You do make me laugh j08 gringrin Quite how you've managed to upset the atheist faction and have the religious one praying for you...I'm in awe. Wonderful.

MiceElf Thu 12-Sept-13 22:14:21

Little things.....

absent Thu 12-Sept-13 22:19:10

Sel What, therefore, is the majority if both atheists and religious people are factions? Don't knows? Don't cares? Don't think about its?

Penstemmon Thu 12-Sept-13 22:23:27

Who's upset??? I see people discussing but no-one looks upset! confused

MiceElf Thu 12-Sept-13 22:26:14

I'm rejoicing. Just took a trip down the side aisle to swat an annoying midge.

Ana Thu 12-Sept-13 22:28:45

I'm sure we all knew what Sel meant, absent... hmm

j08 Thu 12-Sept-13 22:31:25

Down the side aisle! Are you actually in church at the moment MiceElf?!

Sel Thu 12-Sept-13 22:57:41

Might be an allegorical reference to me j08 although a midge? Being 5'10" possibly not smile

absent correct

j08 Thu 12-Sept-13 23:13:16

I don't see it as a win for women. I see it as a win for humanity. Male humans will gain from this progress too because attitudes will change... are changing. It's good for both sexes when women are not regarded as inferior Please note, I did not say different; of course women are different from men in biological ways, but they are not 'unequal' intellectually, and definitely not inferior. Anything that shows society agrees with that is a win for everyone.

JessM Fri 13-Sept-13 08:01:11

Yes quite bags .
But I can also see there are many able and dedicated women in the anglican church who are being blocked from contributing to it at the top level. They have my good wishes. (As do women who would like to progress in other male-dominated organisations that I would not align with personally. e.g the Chinese Communist Party) I also wonder if women bishops might contribute positively to the challenges faced by the organisation.

Lilygran Fri 13-Sept-13 08:08:40

Good news, Greatnan, I'm pleased for you all. Keep spreading peace and love, Mice. Keep on, J08

MiceElf Fri 13-Sept-13 08:09:04

Well said JessM and thatbags. The pace of change is frustratingly slow, but it does happen, and this latest step in Wales is a real cause to rejoice.

MiceElf Fri 13-Sept-13 08:09:39

Why women follow a regime that treats them as underlings - pretty much any religion really - baffles me..

thatbags Fri 13-Sept-13 09:12:29

Perhaps they think fighting from within is better than fighting from without. And – small point – their membership may have something to do with what they believe in.

I don't like some of the prejudices of the big knobs in the Scout Association but my voice is louder in the organisation than out of it. And beside, I'm a scout, whatever the big knobs think.

MiceElf Fri 13-Sept-13 09:29:11

Thatbags - you've said what I would have. smile
