The Daily Mail going on about his dad like that. sad

I really hate the Daily Mail. The country would be so much better off without it.

Gotcha, anniebach! smile

Anniebach Sat 05-Oct-13 09:23:04

True Annodomini, by out of reach I meant difficult to door step him, Internet and telephone are easier to avoid than a reporter on your heels

annodomini Fri 04-Oct-13 20:52:38

According to a fairly snide article in the Torygraph David has tweeted his support for Ed. What with the Internet and other means of communication, nobody is ever out of reach, Anniebach. I would be surprised if he hadn't been approached by the press for comment.

Anniebach Fri 04-Oct-13 20:24:14

Is not David Milliband working in America? If so, then out of reach

Stansgran Fri 04-Oct-13 17:56:49

@iam64 juvenile ramblings in print are open to interpretation by outsiders . The child is father to the man. I haven't read either the diaries or the Daily Mail and would waste time on them.

Greatnan Fri 04-Oct-13 11:05:59

Riverwalk - I agree, time to let it rest now, as most people will have made up their minds about the DM's behaviour.

annodomini Fri 04-Oct-13 10:37:39

Interesting that David Miliband has not entered the fray. It's certain that some newspapers and other media must have asked him for a comment. He is wise to leave it to Ed.

Riverwalk Fri 04-Oct-13 10:09:25

Iam how does arguing the case for Ed Miliband demonstrate that Alistair
Campbell has 'an ethical base'? We all know that Milliband is in the right on this occasion.

As for my suggestion that Miliband should let it rest - I just think it a wise political decision. The public will get bored and there are more important things he could be doing.

Greatnan I didn't say that AC had said anything wrong.

Greatnan Fri 04-Oct-13 09:56:50

I dislike AC just about as much as I dislike the DM - it doesn't mean that everything he says is wrong.

Iam64 Fri 04-Oct-13 09:52:48

I have been pleasantly surprised by Alistair Campbell's input this week. I haven't forgotten his involvement in the Dodgy Dossier Riverwalk, and continue to feel angry about the Iraq war. I'm not viewing him as a knight in shining armour in any way. I'm always relieved when folks who have behaved badly demonstrate they do have an ethical base after all.
Why do you think Milliband should let things rest? The DM certainly isn't doing, sending reporters to his uncle's funeral is hardly an act of conciliation is it.

Riverwalk Fri 04-Oct-13 09:42:40

I think Miliband should let things rest whilst the vast majority of the British public is behind him on this issue.

Riverwalk Fri 04-Oct-13 09:40:00

It's strange how Alistair Campbell is being viewed as a knight in shining armour coming to the aid of Ed Miliband.

Seems we've forgotten he was Tony Blair's right hand man, architect of the Dodgy Dossier which took us into an illegal war, and I see lately he's been a paid consultant to the government of Kazakhstan. I wonder what their press is like hmm

Greatnan Fri 04-Oct-13 09:39:47

Stansgran - even if he did publish it himself, how would that justify the DM's actions?

annodomini Fri 04-Oct-13 09:17:43

I don't think he published it himself. Diaries are of great value to biographers and I understand that the diary was quoted in his official biography: Ralph Miliband and the Politics of the New Left by Michael Newman.

Iam64 Fri 04-Oct-13 09:14:42

And your point is Stansgran?

Stansgran Fri 04-Oct-13 09:05:17

So who keeps their diary from when they were 17 and has such a high opinion of themselves that they publish it ?

Iam64 Fri 04-Oct-13 08:25:29

Signed. AC has been fantastic this week, I've actually turned the radio up to listen when he's been on.

Sure they will not object, Anno.

Signed - in fact, I think I have signed more than one petition - several emails have requested my support.

This has reinforced my belief that the Daily Mail (which I do read every weekday) has reached uncharted depths of depravity - par for the course however. I do get the feeling that it is now so far right wing that it perhaps should form an alliance with Greece's Golden Dawn movement they would compliment each other perfectly. The price, date and title are probably the only three things one should believe at face value. It is the dregs but a must read to affirm all that is wrong with our self regulating (joke) press.

Another petition to write to your MP about the Leveson enquiry.
It goes to parliament on 9th October.

20000 signatures now.
Whitewave, I hope there will not be a Daily Mail by the next election. It should go the way of the News of the World.
Does Rothermere have any other papers apart from the Mail and MoS?

whitewave Thu 03-Oct-13 19:22:13

Just wait as we get nearer to the election the DM will slaughter Ed Miliband. Just hope that the voting public have long memories, and realize the DM for what it is.

Greatnan Thu 03-Oct-13 19:20:34

Signed.

Jendurham Thu 03-Oct-13 19:11:07

They might have to have them do it by video, or tie Campbell to his chair.
Anyone else signed apart from When? I have, obviously.

Over 14500 signatures in 10 hours!
