If only it was as difficult to conceive a child as it is to bring one up. Perhaps Low Newton has child rearing classes as well as hairdressing courses. And how to recognize when a bloke fancies you because you have a child that he can abuse.

The natural instinct for a mother as far as I am concerned would be to lay down her life for her child, most woman I am glad to say would do this without a second thought, some sadly abuse the privilege of motherhood. I would much rather she stayed in jail. I feel no pity for her, she knew what she was doing, she allowed her child to be tortured, so in my opinion she is mostly to blame for what happened to him. On the other hand I still stand by my initial objection to the OP

As when has stated, any more babies she may have will be taken into care at birth. That may not be the best of starts for a child, but far better than the alternative.

She is indeed cunning and conniving. She managed to hide the situation from the child's biological father. I know because he is related to a friend of ours.

Yes Joan, agreed, it's up to others to supervise this woman. She was judged, found guilty and has served the sentence given to her by the courts. She'll be on licence for life.
If the subject of the death of children like this little boy wasn't such a distressing one for all of us, I'd feel ignoring OP's like this is the best course of action.

My only hope is that she does not have any more children. She has been totally shamed, incarcerated for 4 years, and released on parole. She will never be totally 'free', a report says:-

^Connelly will remain on licence for the rest of her life and if she breaches any of the conditions, she would most likely be recalled to custody.

Conditions can include curfews, restrictions on movements and frequent meetings with an offender manager, said a Ministry of Justice spokesman.^

She has also been beaten up in jail:-

Tracey Connelly was assaulted in a hairdressing class by a convicted burglar from Chester-le-Street.

The attacker, Stacey Lonsdale, was given a 21 day sentence for the attack on top of the two year term she was serving for burglary.

She carried out the assault in February but has now been released and told The Sun: "It was worth it, she deserves a good hiding every day of her life for what she put that baby through.^

She will not given a new identity, but will be given training on how to prevent people finding out who she is.

She's been jailed, seriously bashed, and will be supervised for all her life, and jailed again if she breaches conditions:I think we should leave well enough alone.

It's been confirmed by the authorities that if she has any more children they will be removed into care at birth. I agree, the sentence should have been longer. The judge probably didn't anticipate she would cooperate in prison. She didn't get release at the first opportunity but it seems so soon after sentencing, but that was because time served before sentencing has been deducted, as always happens.

I wonder if she grieves for him?

No response from the op as to the comments from other Gners I see.I just hope and pray that a mistake has not been made in an early release I do feel that this woman should have served a longer term and shudder to think she may have more children,I have not read the whole case as I find it hard to read things like this does she have more children ? are they with SS or have they been adopted so she can have no contact with them.?

I wouldn't describe this person as weak, pathetic or in any way to be pitied. In my opinion she was very fortunate to get such a light sentence after covering for and enabling the two evil bastards who slowly tortured her child to death. She had enough cunning and guile to manipulate the authorities into believing she was a good mother, to disguise his injuries and allow his unimaginable pain to go on and on and on. And I dread to think that she will in future have charge of other vulnerable children. But I believe we have no choice but to entrust our justice system with decisions regarding sentencing and supervision - we may not always agree with them, but what real alternative is there?

The OP needs to be careful if he/she is involved in a concerted internet campaign to incite vigilantism. It can result in prosecution.

It's been explained that this was her second application for release. The time she spent on remand, plus time post sentence, takes her past the minimum she must serve in custody before beng considered for parole, so by that reckoning she hasn't been given early release.

I wonder how Mumsnet has responded?

I presume the OP is part of the on line campaign to get her lynched. They are apparently targeting as many forums as they can, and presumably some of them will be much more fertile ground than Gransnet.

Galen - I was surprised by her early release. This was a dreadful crime, and if my memory is right, she was expected to serve a minimum of 5 years. As others have said, she never posed a risk to the general public, just to any child in her care. I don't agree with ladybird9's OP. I don't agree either that she can be excused as 'weak' yet the men involved described as 'evil'. We don't know the full facts but it is a huge mistake to assume she wasn't as cruel and inhuman to this little boy as the 2 men were.

Prison/forensic psychiatrists have uttered a lot of nonsense over the years, but fortunately most of them came out of their ivory towers and began to listen to the opinions of other disciplines. Twenty years ago, one of them told me that if a patient disclosed he had serially raped, she woud feel duty bound to keep that confidence. When she was challenged, she said, 'well it's a grey area, I suppose.' Ten years later, she was one of the best, most forward-thinking psychiatrists leading research and treatment of dangerous sex offenders.

Having known (many years ago) one of the senior prison medical officers. I was horrified then by the attitude that if you incarcerate people more than a certain number of years, they can't be rehabilitated
Therefore, they must be released!
He was a psychiatrist, and in charge of the prisons in my region including Dartmoor!

In the paper it said that the Parole Board would release her because she was no longer a danger to the public. I didn't think she ever was a danger to the public - just her own unfortunate child! Personally I don't feel that she has served long enough, but there you are .....

I might be able to do exactly the same to them as they did to the little boy.
