Oh, just heard that Pete Seeger has died, aged 94. He was so influential in raising my awareness about Civil Rights, the environment, war and pacificism, in the 60s. A man with great values and moral fibre.

I remember him singing "Little Boxes" on Sunday Night at the London Palladium. I must have been around 10. The words had a big impact on me then.

I remember that, too, Eloethan. Apparently, he wrote 'Where Have All The Flowers Gone' as well.

I did not realise that he was so old, I thought that he was marginally older than myself. I remember his songs well.

I also didn't realise he was that much older than me.
I well remember a lot of his songs, we sang them in the folk club - 'Little Boxes' especially.
I didn't know he was one of those blacklisted in the 50s, until I heard it on the BBC this morning.

I was greatly surprised to find out he was 94.

Where have All The Flowers Gone was a great song. Didn't realise he was that age.

So sad to hear Pete Seager has died. One of my all-time favourite folk singers and a great campaigner. Also surprised he was 94.I believe he was nominated for a Nobel peace prize.
Have sung some of his songs .Will order another of his CDs today.

Also can't believe he was 94, together with Joan Baez his songs were such a backdrop and influence in my youth.

Sad news, RIP

I hadn't realised that he'd co-written 'If I had a Hammer' in 1949! Such a prolific songwriter - I was surprised he was 94 as well.

I loved his songs, his voice and his approach to life. Like everyone else, I was surprised he was 94, thought he was about 10 years older than me. I loved Little Boxes, and was determined never to live in one. I did, of course.

One of the good guys - a sad loss.

I too remember that night at the Palladium, great songs indeed.

Maybe the most prophetic lines of Little Boxes was:

And they all go to university
And they all come out the same.

Truly an inspirational figure. I feel very nostalgic humming his songs.

Pete Segar didn't write Little Boxes. It was written by his friend Malvina Reynolds in 1962 and he recorded it the following year.

I loved 'Turn! Turn! Turn!'
