He should not have gone to the games or planned to. let the athletes go if they want but no need for politicians to waste time on it. All a bit obscene the amount of money that has been spent on it as well.

Same reason as we have the rainbow Gransnet banner at the moment.

I think the reason he did not go to the opening ceremony was because of Putin's recent anti-gay stance. Nothing to do with the weather. Same with Obama.

No - he should be here, as he is.

Obama has a similar reason for not going. Snow storms have killed at least 12 people in the US. in the last few days.
If my taxes have to go to paying for Cameron to go to Russia or helping people in the Somerset levels, I know which I'd choose.
This time Cameron got it right, it really is an either/or.
Just hope he does not go on holiday over half-term, or he'll have blown it then.

Perhaps just for the opening ceremony?

I've never heard of "gussying up" before! grin

No! We have a crisis - people flooded out of their homes and businesses and many more without power - and he's in charge of the government, his place is here not gussying up to Putin!

I think he should have gone. Especially as we put on the 2012 Games.
