Sudan/Female doctor get's death penalty for Apostasy

Barbaric - sick - primitive - truly shocking. I am not denigrating the 'Bring back our girls' in the slightest-- but I would like to hear e.g. Michelle Obama's comments on this apalling situation

It's hard to comment on this. It's just too awful. And makes you feel so helpless. And angry.

Surely they will never let sharia law be practised in this country? (Please God)

Deplorable and inhumane.

My understanding is that sharia law has been operating in some areas of England for over a year and I fail to understand why Westminster even entertained allowing this into English courts. I sincerely hope this does not spread to other parts of Britain when the above is an example of what they accept as justice.

Someone else who needs rescuing and refuge in our country where Sharia law should not be allowed to operate. We cannot have a dual system.

Amnesty has a text system going and I have responded to that so hava also signed this one. Is the world becoming more barbaric?

Ana I have only found a quote saying over a year but you may well be right. The fact it was allowed at all is what worries me.

The one main hope is that Sharia isn't the law of the land even in Sudan so a higher court may over-rule this judgement. They won't even let her husband take charge of the little boy who is in prison with her, because he is Christian and they have claimed the child for Islam. It's a sick society.

I heard that she was to have 100 lashes as well after the baby was born. How horrific is that. Sadists!

Surely the most effective thing would be for the foreign office to pass on the message that aid will have to be re-considered if this barbarity is allowed to happen? One hopes that this is going on behind the scenes. I for one, do not want any of my money going to a country that permits this behaviour. And the same applies to Nigeria and their ineffective and pathetic government.
