An article in todays news states there is outrage among some about the author Jeanette Winterson admitting to killing and cooking wild rabbit.
I have eaten wild rabbit on a few occasions given to us by a farmer friend. Not sure about killing it myself though.
Would you, could you ??

Guinea pigs were first bred by humans for food several thousand years ago in the Andes. Still are, I believe. People ate llama meat too. Somewhere I've heard that the Romans brought rabbits here for their meat.

Here is an interesting article from the Guardian in January 2013 about how choosing vegetarian foods, e.g. quinoa and asparagus, from poorer countries does not always have good consequences.

That was an interesting article thatbags. It does worry me too when I see roses grown in Kenya in the shops. Surely using African land and water for this is very frivolous?
I didn't eat meat for 15 years for various reasons. In fact I began again after a major family crisis when I decided there were enough divisions and this was one I could fix. In my non meat eating days, one of my criteria was whether I could kill it myself. If I couldn't then it was wrong to allow someone else to do it for me. I reckoned I could probably kill a fish, haven't put this to the test admittedly, so did eat fish occasionally. No quinoa passed my lips thoughgrin

I have a phobia. I'm afraid of dead things. Completely stupid I know. Even more irrational is that I'm afraid of them in case they move! Thus I cannot kill things. Even flies are a problem. But - I can gut, clean and dress rabbits, chickens and, at a big push, fish. Just as long as someone has already cut the head off - then it's meat not dead thing!
