I had heard that Lynda Bellingham had cancer but hadn't realised it was this bad. I've always liked her on screen. I can still remember well her oxo adverts.
She always seems so happy & energetic. What a brave lady!

My thoughts are with you Lynda Bellingham we have never met but I have admired your work as an actress and when you were on Loose Women. I knew you had cancer but thought you had had treatment and were in the clear.

So sorry to hear about lovely Lynda Bellingham, I too thought she was in the clear. Very sad.

Read a very good interview/article in todays Telegraph, anyone else see it?

Anne58 Mon 29-Sept-14 19:39:08

Sorry, just realised that others mentioned the article, not sure if it was in other papers.

This is very sad news. I hope she gets her family Christmas and that the end is quick and peaceful.

The other day and I don't normally watch Loose women showed Linda's "funny moments" on screen and what an inspirational woman. She reminds me of my dear sister who survived 3 cancers however she eventually succumbed to the last one. My sister and I had some really endearing moments before the end and I can imagine Linda and her family will be sharing their own personal moments too. Thank you Linda you are a dignified lady who will leave so many happy memories to loved ones and the public at large. sunshine

How sad that she didn't get her last Christmas.

Sorry searched but didn't find this thread so started another.

Such sad news this morning and such a shame she didn't get to have her last Christmas with her family as she had hoped.

Is it just me, or does anyone else find it a bit distasteful that Lynda's husband is popping up all over the place giving interviews and detailed descriptions about his last days with his wife?

merlotgran Mon 17-Nov-14 23:42:16

Yep! Me too.

Some people make a cottage industry out of bereavement and I agree, it's distasteful.

harrigran Tue 18-Nov-14 00:05:35

I was dismayed to read his story in Saturday's newspaper. Way too soon and quite tacky to give all the details.

PRINTMISS Tue 18-Nov-14 08:14:09

Thought the same, such a shame, but perhaps he felt better for writing it, although there was not need to publish, of course.

Brendawymms Tue 18-Nov-14 08:27:26

I agree with Printmiss perhaps it's his way of keeping the grief at bay.

Lona Tue 18-Nov-14 09:49:48

I don't like it much, but maybe Lynda talked about it with him in order to promote her books etc. so that her boys would benefit from the sales.

whenim64 Tue 18-Nov-14 10:22:04

I saw him talking on Loose Women yesterday. He broke down a couple of times and appeared to be steeling himself to say what he needed to say, which was to thank people for support, stacks of letters, and to say how the book was doing. He thanked the Post Office for delivering letters addressed to Mr Spain with an incomplete address in Somerset, which were being dropped through his mum's letterbox. I got the impression the poor man sees his late wife as belonging to the nation, especially after the campaign to show her Oxo advert on Christmas Day. He said would be going away at Chrstmas for a quiet time.

The guy hasn't been in the public eye until now, when he has been overtaken by events surrounding Lynda's illness and death. I think Lona may well be right and he's trying to do as Lynda wanted, while also coping with grief.

Tegan Tue 18-Nov-14 10:54:50

I'm sorry but my first thought was 'book sales' and I'm sure the publisher is behind all of this.
