I think it goes without saying this is pure barbarism and I feel for the family.

No clever words required just a simple.

RIP Alan Henning, you appeared to be a good man.

Such a kind and caring man, what a terrible way for him to die... My thoughts are with his wife and family, a truly devastating loss. RIP Alan.

There are no words strong enough to express our feelings on this barbaric act. The whole world is outraged. Deepest sympathy to Alan's family.

What can anyone say in this situation? These people go against all the civilizing influences and progress of thousands of years and are returning to a wild state, albeit using the trappings of 20th century communication. It is beyond sad.

Imagine how frightened he must have been sad angry

Poor poor man. Thoughts and prayers for his family. RIP, dear Allen.

Unbelievably barbaric.

Are we being goaded by them telling us who is next in line? I agree, let the US find and punish. Life in prison is not the answer.

Terrible news, so sad for Mr Hennings (RIP) family - whos son will be remembered as a generous wonderful person.
We as British people must unite and stand firm against such evil scum. The FBI equipped with whereabouts of this vile swine: Cameron must allow the US to source & punish.

God Rest Your Soul Mr Henning. We will not let-up.

What a sad ending for Mr Henning, who only wanted to help Syrians in need of food and aid.

The psychopath who is beheading westerners needs stopping in his tracks by the Islamists he claims to represent before any more lives are taken. Someone as murderous as this is just as likely to kill the people around him as those regarded as their enemies.

NanKate Sat 04-Oct-14 10:05:03

What dreadfully sad news, feel consumed with sadness for his poor family.

What a sad old world we live.

Nelliemoser Sat 04-Oct-14 09:48:08

They are truly barbaric.

Moderate Islam can and should stand up against this group, but the views of the Islamic State are so extreme that I doubt if the alternative views of moderate Muslims is going to make much difference to them in the short term.

The IS probably consider those who do not hold their extreme views as bad Muslims.

TerriBull Sat 04-Oct-14 09:40:36

Awful! RIP Alan a kind and caring man who should have been returned to his loved ones. Such barbarism is hard to contemplate.

gillybob Sat 04-Oct-14 09:29:57

I agree thatbags and Anya it is high time that good Muslims stood up against this evil. Declaring "not in my name" simply isn't enough.

Anya Sat 04-Oct-14 09:22:37

Alan was a far better man than the scum who captured and killed him.

This evil cannot be allowed to continue and the Muslim leaders and ordinary Muslims around the world need to stand up and shout out against this.

‘All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing’

(or words to that effect)

Grannyknot Sat 04-Oct-14 08:42:16

Agree too. Muslim leaders need to step up.

I can't get my head around that this is happening in the world today.

RIP Mr. Henning.

Soutra Sat 04-Oct-14 08:33:14

Oops sorry- it was Thatbags blush

Soutra Sat 04-Oct-14 08:31:26

I entirely agree with jingl's link- Muslim leaders and Muslims at whatever level need to not only speak out but in the case of politicians and leadets, take action.

Teetime Sat 04-Oct-14 08:23:47

My heartfelt condolences to the family of this compassionate man and hopeful prayers for all hostages all over the world.

thatbags Sat 04-Oct-14 08:20:35

RIP Alan.

thatbags Sat 04-Oct-14 08:20:13

Amjad Khan says that it is not enough for Muslims to say "not in my name".

ninathenana Sat 04-Oct-14 08:19:20

Very sad and disgusted hear the news.

You gave your time and energy to help others Alan. Now tragically you have given your life too. RIP

My thoughts are with your family and friends.

Marelli Sat 04-Oct-14 08:11:13

They cannot see goodness prosper. They are foul creatures. Words alone cannot describe them. If there is such a thing as Karma (and I'm sure there is), I hope it comes back round to them a million-fold.

Lona Sat 04-Oct-14 08:04:47

Such a sad waste of a good man's life. I feel so sad for his family.

kittylester Sat 04-Oct-14 07:59:38

So sad and unnecessary!

Kiora Sat 04-Oct-14 07:56:56

Purpledaffodil Sat 04-Oct-14 07:04:33

Not often I agree with David Cameron, but "barbaric and repulsive ", it certainly was. angry
