... I wondered, is there a Gransnetter on this?

Yes, I had seen that, not in great depth, but actually heard more about it through a friend of mine who lives there. I was not aware of the movement.

On second thoughts, we have been staying at our daughters in Leicester a lot over the summer, so that may be where I have seen the reports.

Janerowena, look at the thread about NHS fragmentation.
It's rather long, but there's a lot about the Jarrow march.
Eloethan and her husband walked the last ten miles to the Houses of Parliament.
Clive Peedell of the NHA party ran the final 66 miles. He is standing against Cameron in the next election.

I will.

I've read it now, and looked at the links. I can see why we weren't particularly aware of it, the closest it came to us was touching on Cambridge well to the west of us. East Anglia - no-one needs to come here really! Unless they are a container lorry on their way to the docks. Also when it happened we were away on holiday. I do remember seeing that eloethan had been on a march, and did wonder why but the thread had gone on too far to mention.

I prefer Billy Bragg.

As I said, the video achieved it's objective, from dare I say a shock start to this thread, we are now discussing the problem seriously.
Nothing like a bit of innuendo (is that the right word) to catch peoples attention.
I will listen to Billy Bragg when I get back home later. Docs for me soon, NHS of course.

A doctor posted this on Twitter too:

"Only Virgin and Optum (United Health) been shortlisted for £280m contract in East Staffordshire, where all NHS bidders squeezed out of race".

I'm not sure the first verse was meant to be taken in that way. Couldn't she just be referring to the strong type of protest Pussy Riot went in for? Could the naughtiness be completely in the minds of readers/posters on here only?

jinglbellsfrocks Tue 18-Nov-14 12:18:53

I'm not sure I would have seen this "innuendo".

Just women of various ages across the board, making a strong protest.

pompa Tue 18-Nov-14 18:29:38

JBF I did say I wasn't sue the word was correct, I seem to find it more difficult to come up with the words that describe what I mean as I get older.

I was referring to the very first video I this thread. Trying to say that by using the reference to Pussy Riot it would grab peoples attention, not necessarily for the right reason. Once you have your audience you can then move on to the serious message.

Does that make my post clearer. Perhaps double entendre would have been a better word.

No way am I decrying those women who are protesting.

pompa Tue 18-Nov-14 18:30:52

Oh how I wish you could edit posts after they are made, so many typos.

jinglbellsfrocks Tue 18-Nov-14 19:09:10

I was talking about the first video too.

Ana Tue 18-Nov-14 19:53:33

But Audrey did give a rather 'coy but knowing' look to the camera when she mentioned 'grey' pussies.

Come on, she knew what she was doing!

Elegran Tue 18-Nov-14 22:02:43

I noticed that too. She knew she was talking about grey "pussies" not grey moggies.

jinglbellsfrocks Tue 18-Nov-14 23:15:09

Not necessarily. She might have meant pussy-riot type of protesters of all ages.

jinglbellsfrocks Tue 18-Nov-14 23:17:43

I don't think she would have brought that serious protest down to that level.

Elegran Tue 18-Nov-14 23:18:59

Look at the twinkle in her eye.
