To achieve the level of cuts needed to met the target, we can't talk in terms of duff computer systems, you need to start from the top and then work down.

Of course we haven't yet been told whether the NHS is to be protected, because if that is to be part of the cuts then we will easily achieve our target.

They waste so much money on duff computer systems for one- prudent housekeeping is needed.

Locally here around 23 people are going on a "jolly" to America to find out how A&E works. Nothing but the best- 5 star hotels etc. That nonsense should be cut out. I know it is not billions but the housekeeping has to start at the lowest level first.

Education and areas such as police fire etc are not being protected under the next round of cuts, so they would have to be part of your 20% soon

the 5 was supposed to be %.
So eg 20% cuts or whatever is necessary across all sectors except the ones I listed.

I didnt list things like bureaucracy, as it doesnt happen.

It might be fairer to have 5 cuts across the board, except in heath, education, health and safety such as fire services etc.
Not sure that defence should have further cuts.

tee that won't go anywhere near what is necessary

-Excessive bureaucracy at all levels.
-MPs pensions and benefits
-Wars

Since posting this I have been trying to think of something and am finding great difficulty. Thinking back to when this level of spend which was the 30's of course we didn't have the welfare state then, so if we want to protect at the very least the NHS I am stuck! I suppose we could get rid of some government departments such as DEFRA, drastically cut military spending such as Trident. Perhaps do things like cut lighting at midnight for everywhere. Cut art grants.

Well according to the OBR government spend per person will have to drop from £3000 per person - current spend - to £1300 per person in order to meet the governments plans for the next few years.

Bearing in mind the cuts that have taken place already in order to get it to £3000 what would other GN's like to see cut in order to meet the target of more than 50% more cuts?

Of course you don't have to accept these parameters and could suggest other ways of cutting the debt.
