Quite rightly he's being suspended but should the BBC be cancelling episodes of Top Gear?

If a man working in a factory punches a colleague he would probably be sacked but I doubt they'd remove the product he was making from the shelves.

Mishap Sat 14-Mar-15 17:11:30

Me neither!

AlieOxon Sat 14-Mar-15 15:38:36

I dunno what's interesting about watching cars.

jinglbellsfrocks Sat 14-Mar-15 13:40:56

If I can drag the nine year old away from it. hmm

jinglbellsfrocks Sat 14-Mar-15 13:40:24

We will go to the garden centre while it's on and eat more cake

merlotgran Sat 14-Mar-15 13:25:34

Yep. Its boring.....until somebody crashes!!

Awful thing to say but it's just a fast moving procession now.

Loads of my family love it. I just go with the flow hmm

grumppa Sat 14-Mar-15 00:10:19

Formula 1 is boring.

gillybob Sat 14-Mar-15 00:04:13

Come on now jings how can you say you hate F1. Fast cars, fast men, exotic locations.....what's not to like?

I can't wait. grin

Deedaa Fri 13-Mar-15 21:18:02

First race on Sunday grin grin grin

jinglbellsfrocks Fri 13-Mar-15 19:48:21

Hate bloody Formula 1!!!! hmm

Ceesnan Fri 13-Mar-15 19:20:39

The majority of fast car testing on Top Gear is done on an airfield. When the filming is done on a road in most cases the road is closed to other traffic if they are using excessive speed.

thatbags Fri 13-Mar-15 19:10:00

I think that any fast driving filmed for Top Gear is done with proper safeguards and controls. BBC would never get away with anything else.

gillybob Fri 13-Mar-15 19:09:45

Agree with Mishap hardly a lynch mob. Just a reasonable discussion. confused

gillybob Fri 13-Mar-15 19:08:06

Yeah!!!!! I absolutely adore Formula 1 merlotgran bring it on. The faster, the noisier the better. smile

Mishap Fri 13-Mar-15 19:03:06

No problem with motor racing on a proper track with proper safeguards and controls.

merlotgran Fri 13-Mar-15 18:51:12

Formula 1 starts this weekend. grin

#fastcarsontelly

Eloethan Fri 13-Mar-15 18:49:15

Neither do I.

Mishap Fri 13-Mar-15 18:43:22

I do not think that expressing concerns about his behaviour (not just in this instance) constitutes a lynch mob!

thatbags Fri 13-Mar-15 18:26:56

Well said, janea and grumppa.

grumppa Fri 13-Mar-15 18:24:12

The issue is that so many people are rushing to judgement without waiting for the BBC's due processes to be followed.

I hold no particular brief for JC or TG, but I do feel that a Gransnetters' lynch mob is no more edifying a spectacle than any other lynch mob.

janeainsworth Fri 13-Mar-15 18:09:13

The issue is not that he is arrogant and obnoxious.
The issue is that he allegedly assaulted a colleague.
If that is proven, he should be dealt with as any employee in any other organisation who had assaulted a colleague would be - summary dismissal.
The concern is that because of his status he will be dealt with more leniently.

grumppa Fri 13-Mar-15 17:58:59

Tthe same would be true of people who are campaigning to have him sacked.

gillybob Fri 13-Mar-15 17:37:41

Given that there is only the legal requirement of one TV licence per household. I would hazard a guess that most of the half million people who have signed the petition for JC to stay will probably not be actual licence payers.

merlotgran Fri 13-Mar-15 17:25:29

Hear Hear, grumppa.

grumppa Fri 13-Mar-15 17:11:04

If all the arrogant, obnoxious people on the BBC were sacked there would be several gaps in the programmes. And the half million who want him reinstated are licence payers as well.
