Quite rightly he's being suspended but should the BBC be cancelling episodes of Top Gear?

If a man working in a factory punches a colleague he would probably be sacked but I doubt they'd remove the product he was making from the shelves.

Don't worry about me worrying ... I don't and I have a gsoh... oh and thanks for coffee, very much appreciated- I had some Lindt with a touch of salt balck choc with it- excellent.

Ana Tue 23-Jun-15 21:24:37

I agree. No point the BBC cutting off its nose to spite its face.

thatbags Tue 23-Jun-15 21:19:39

'they' meaning the BBC.

thatbags Tue 23-Jun-15 21:19:06

The programmes were made before the thumping incident. The BBC stopped making them with him in them as soon as the thumping incident happened. Ergo, they are not in the wrong.

grumppa Tue 23-Jun-15 21:15:20

Hammond, May, the Stig and various celebrity guests will all be in the shows to be broadcast, as well as Clarkson. Why should they all get the chop?

jinglbellsfrocks Tue 23-Jun-15 21:07:04

You do worry an awful lot granjura. brew (that's the coffe which I think you should wake up and smell) smile

granjura Tue 23-Jun-15 20:48:24

If a man working in a factory punches a colleague he would probably be sacked but I doubt they'd remove the product he was making from the shelves.

as you said in OP. But there is a massive difference, nobody would know that the product would have been made by him- the factory man would be anonymous.

granjura Tue 23-Jun-15 20:35:24

It's got nothing about 'liking' or not- it is about him having been sacked for very violent behaviour towards a colleague - and you know that. But you are free to disagree, of course.

thatbags Tue 23-Jun-15 20:20:33

I understand what you're saying, jura, and I disagree.

thatbags Tue 23-Jun-15 20:19:54

I don't think it's wrong to show programmes licence payers have already paid for. The Beeb isn't in the business of censorship. Shouldn't be anyhow. Whether one likes a particular presenter or not is beside the point.

granjura Tue 23-Jun-15 20:19:52

No Ana- and I am not going to get into an argument with you about it. I think some, maybe just a few, will understand what I am saying. maybe not- that's ok.

Ana Tue 23-Jun-15 20:12:29

What's 'not all'? Are you privy to information the rest of us are unaware of, granjura? confused

granjura Tue 23-Jun-15 20:01:25

That's not all- hence my surprise and 'concern'.

merlotgran Tue 23-Jun-15 19:44:15

They're advertising an up and coming programme which has already been made with license fee payers' money.

That's all.

granjura Tue 23-Jun-15 19:40:30

still glorifying him after saking him- so wrong I feel.

jinglbellsfrocks Tue 23-Jun-15 19:30:39

Oh! Sorry. Thanks Jane. Yes, can understand they have to be shown.

Ana Tue 23-Jun-15 19:28:52

The BBC denies that they even considered having him back, though.

Who knows what the truth of it is...? hmm

Jane10 Tue 23-Jun-15 19:25:41

They're not repeats they're the ones recorded prior to the 'incident'. Too expensive to throw away.

granjura Tue 23-Jun-15 19:14:54

Oh I see, repeats, thanks- could not quite understand what was going on!

Yep- totally wrong imho- repeats or not sad

jinglbellsfrocks Tue 23-Jun-15 19:06:42

I think it's funny how they are showing the repeats. Not exactly principled are they? grin

jinglbellsfrocks Tue 23-Jun-15 19:06:02

Apparently the Beeb sounded him out on returning to Top Gear but he wouldn't. He was too disgusted with being compared to Jimmy Saville.

He's got a new motoring show in the pipeline. Don't know which channel.

Ana Tue 23-Jun-15 19:03:59

What are you on about? Clarkson hasn't been re-employed to front top Gear. Chris Evans is presenting the new series.

granjura Tue 23-Jun-15 19:01:12

and how much is he being paid now???

granjura Tue 23-Jun-15 19:00:20

Drives me mad- so he was sacked for violent behaviour- and now the Beep is advertising every few hours the return of Top Gear on BB2.

I mean, how on earth do they get away with that. The hypocrisy and stupidity of it all drive me bonkers!

bibibetti Thu 07-May-15 21:58:24

Good riddance to show of .
