Well, I've just spent almost 2 hours with one of the candidates for our Local Council election. I had emailed him because he had posted a leaflet while I was in, but hadn't bothered to knock, and there were questions I wanted to ask.
To give him his due, he not only responded to my email, but also called round the following day. I was at work that day! When I told him this, to his credit he asked if there was a time that might suit me.
I didn't think for a minute that he would be able to spare the time on the eve of polling day, but he did.
I have saved every election leaflet that I received, and realised that when it came to the Council Elections I had received only ONE leaflet
I went online to see who was standing, and was amazed to find there were only 2 choices, the chap I had contacted, and someone from the Greens, who didn't even live within the ward. How am I supposed to make a judgment based on that? I don't know her policies on local issues, so, sorry but I won't be voting for her!
Do many other GN'ers have Local Council Elections, as well as those for MP's?
By the way, the choice for local MP is much broader that that for the council, there is even someone standing for the Communist Party!
