Perhaps it is time to begin the debate. Anyone interested? And if so how to start? I have some ideas but no doubt there are other ones out there.

I think he has only had two wives so far the third seems to be Daily Mail reportage that may or may not be true.

Poor you TriciaF; it's not great if things are being switched.

Ana Wed 22-Jul-15 20:52:37

Oh I'm sure durhamjen told us he was currently married. So it must be true.

Just had a look at Jeremy Corbyn's plans for economic success and fairness. One paragraph particularly caught my attention.

"Talk of the ‘Northern Powerhouse’ is largely southern hot air. The pain of the cuts has been devolved, but power and prosperity remain tightly centralised.

I couldn't agree more.

Investment, growth and tax justice: Corbyn outlines economic vision & fairer taxes for Britain 2020

Remember The Guardian ran a vindictive story accusing Conservative MP. Grant Schapps of being behind a wiki account called 'Contribsx'. The likes of Clegg and Ashdown tried to pin it on him too but it was done jokingly so that was alright then.

None of them as far as I know had the guts to say sorry when it was eventually brought out in the open to be a story given to the Guardian by a wiki administrator who was a Tower Hamlets Lib Dem Activist who had no proof nor evidence . I may be wrong but I don't think he works for wiki any more, could be wrong.

Double check before you commit and putting a link up could get you in trouble if it is proved incorrect, as with the Guardian story. Just saying.

For anyone who's interested.

Interesting although this:

"Ironically given his later aversion, Mr Corbyn himself also received a grammar school education, at the prestigious Adams School."

is ironical in itself. Most of us don't choose our schools - our parents do.

The third marriage does seem more solidly referenced here than the tittle-tattle put forward in the Mail.

This was last year, Tegan. Do not know if it's changed.

Eloethan Wed 22-Jul-15 22:23:45

I don't know about the Contribsx file to which you refer POGS but Grant Shapps has been found on more than one occasion to have played fast and loose with the truth and, perhaps because he was an embarrassment to the Conservative Party, was demoted in May.

Anniebach Wed 22-Jul-15 22:24:04

Agree with his principles or not, he does stick with his unlike many MP's

This year. Vince Cable said it was true.

Eloethan

Surprised you missed reading that one in the Guardian.

Eloethan Wed 22-Jul-15 22:49:15

Missed which one POGS?

POGS Wed 22-Jul-15 22:51:18

The Guardian story accusing Grant Schnapps confused

Tegan Wed 22-Jul-15 23:20:27

Thanks jen. I'll show it to the S.O. He used to work for Crookes till Boots sold them to Reckitts.

Eloethan Wed 22-Jul-15 23:28:13

I vaguely recall something on TV but I didn't really follow it as I just thought "oh Grant Shapps in hot water again".

I just looked it up. It seems that there was no conclusive resolution of the matter. GS threatened to sue for libel and possibly make a complaint under election law, but presumably decided not to pursue it. A few weeks later he was demoted. From what I've just read, my understanding is it wasn't the Guardian that raised the issue but Newsnight.

TriciaF Thu 23-Jul-15 11:39:42

The situation with Labour is quite depressing. Yvette Cooper was on the Radio4 news this morning and she just sounded so angry.
Husband listened to the debate last night on LBC and said J. Corbyn was by far the most convincing. If only he has the personality to unite people a bit more. They need to, in order to provide some kind of opposition to the dreadful things the Tories are doing.
It's supposed to be 50 days until the leadership election, a long time to go yet.

Tegan Thu 23-Jul-15 11:48:14

D'you think the problem is that two of the people standing are women? I shouldn't say this, I know, but it takes an extra special woman to lead a political party and I don't thing either woman has that charisma. The S.O. says he saw an interview with Jeremy Corbyn on [I think] Ch4 and he was very aggressive towards the interviewer.

Anniebach Thu 23-Jul-15 12:16:54

Thatcher managed without a scrap of charisma and extra special ? no, she had Sir Keith Joseph pulling the strings .

The media are turning this into a circus, parliment in recess what else have the political teams to cover . I think Jeremy has been very polite and calm considering the moronic questions hurled at him

All this rubbish about leaders on the left lost elections because they were of the left, they were slaughtered by Murdoch . Kinnock took on the far left himself . Blair rabbiting on about moving to the centre ,he nestled up to Murdoch . Brown came in and the Murdoch guns were turned on him

Anya Thu 23-Jul-15 12:22:02

If anyone could make me vote for Corbyn it would be that plonker Blair ggrrrrr.....

Tegan Thu 23-Jul-15 12:22:31

Can't agree with that; much as I loathed her,if she had no charisma she wouldn't have divided opinion so much. I still think the first woman Prime Minister of this country should have been Barbara Castle, though.

Tegan Thu 23-Jul-15 12:24:33

Do the Labour Party not understand how hated the man is these days?

FarNorth Thu 23-Jul-15 12:36:10

Most of the Labour MPs seem to have trouble understanding a lot of basic facts.

Anya Thu 23-Jul-15 12:38:10

I don't think they have a clue Tegan certsinly the arrogant bastard man himself thinks he's wonderful.

Anniebach Thu 23-Jul-15 13:32:57

Tegan, charisma doesn't divide surely.

Anniebach Thu 23-Jul-15 13:36:29

John Prescott was asked his opinion in interviews this morning and he politely gave his opinion. The News leads with - .prescott attacks ! there was no attack, he gave sensible views

New labour has gone . Scotland showed this is so
