Margaret Thatcher came to power in 1979, that's over 30 years ago I think. ?.

This question should separate the men from the boys, as the saying goes.

Right people, "gloves off".

On your marks, get set, go.....................

I'm sure Maggie would never have countenanced wearing plimsolls! Michael Foot, on the other hand...

MiniMouse Thu 27-Aug-15 21:02:13

Perhaps not plimsolls - how about Dennis shoes when she was on court?

Nelliemoser Thu 27-Aug-15 21:23:39

Wot Merlot said!

Anniebach Thu 27-Aug-15 21:24:19

Disliked her intensely , felt sorry for her when she left Downing Street, not dorry to see the back of her but dorry she had been stabbed in the back, I felt no cause to rejoice when she died, to die in a hotel suite with no family with you seems so lonely . She did such harm to this country and encouraged the greed is good anthem of the eighties Not just encouraged but led it , she was without any empathy.

I knew someone would bite eventually!

Ana Thu 27-Aug-15 21:27:25

The floodgates are now officially open...hmm

Alea Thu 27-Aug-15 21:30:43

Anyone for Dennis?

Anniebach Thu 27-Aug-15 21:37:48

I don't bite Ana, neither do I get excited waiting for posts, I post on a thread I am interested in, that's it

Ana Thu 27-Aug-15 21:39:08

smile

Anya Thu 27-Aug-15 21:48:36

Singles or doubles Alea?

Alea Thu 27-Aug-15 22:01:42

Have you seen that video on Facebook with Rafa Nadal playing strip tennis?
Thinking tennis fan's crumpet, he is.

Lona Thu 27-Aug-15 22:06:40

I love crumpets!

Anya Thu 27-Aug-15 22:25:46

Can we have a link please Alea ?

Indinana Thu 27-Aug-15 22:27:23

With lots of butter. The sort you put on cat's paws so they can find their way home.

Indinana Thu 27-Aug-15 22:28:31

That was crumpets with lots of butter, not Rafa Nadal...

Elegran Thu 27-Aug-15 22:30:56

I don't know though . . .

Ana Thu 27-Aug-15 22:32:22

I thought you put butter on a cat's paws to keep it at home (i.e. when you move house and the cat's not well pleased about it!)

rosesarered Thu 27-Aug-15 22:34:48

Oo-er Elegran!grin

merlotgran Thu 27-Aug-15 22:36:18

I thought that as well, Ana but I suppose if you put loads of butter on each paw you'd get a kind of Hansel and Gretel effect so when the cat gets lost it can find its way back by licking its own pawprints. hmm

That's assuming all the neighbourhood cats haven't beaten him to it.

Ana Thu 27-Aug-15 22:46:26

And then he'd be stranded in the woods! shock sad

Nelliemoser Thu 27-Aug-15 23:10:54

Add some Marmite to the butter on the cats paws and it would certainly not stray.

merlotgran Thu 27-Aug-15 23:14:38

Do wonders for fur balls as well. grin

absent Fri 28-Aug-15 07:01:11

Has any gransnetter actually buttered a cat's paws? I have had cats around me most of my adult life and I'd rather try bathing them and soaking them overnight in Domestos than buttering their paws.

Anya Fri 28-Aug-15 07:21:12

Yer wot?

Indinana Fri 28-Aug-15 07:48:12

Perhaps it's just as well I've never owned a cat grin
