This is Alex Salmond's comment on how Cameron is dealing with the migrant crisis.

www.eveningtimes.co.uk/news/13642051.Alex_Salmond_says_David_Cameron_is__shaming_humanity__over_migration_crisis/

As shame in my countries response was what I have been feeling, I can only agree with him.

The end of the discussion on ending telling people when to end discussions will stop when people want it to nigglynellie. You appear to want to continue.

nigglynellie Fri 11-Sept-15 13:29:13

Ouch!!! I only asked!!!! One question though, why on earth would I want this thread to continue as I've only posted about twice, and then it was to express frustration at it having become so petty and bad thing tempered, so if you are asking me if I want to continue with it the answer is an emphatic 'no'!

Just saw the awful conditions the refugees/ migrants are being kept in, in Hungary, hardly any warm blankets, herded into what look like cattle pens, and having wrapped sandwiches thrown at them to catch.Thrown!the people doing the sandwich throwing wearing face masks as well.

Ana Fri 11-Sept-15 13:58:14

At the scene: Anna Holligan, BBC News, Roszke

'The Hungarian refugee camps have become humiliating holding zones for the thousands trying to cross the country's borders. Journalists are banned from entering, but images shared by human rights groups and refugees are disturbing.

The Hungarian government has not yet commented, but the images will fuel the allegations that Hungary is failing to meet the minimum standards for the treatment of migrants, as laid out in the European Convention on Human Rights.

The Council of Europe has reminded member states that people should not be treated like prisoners.

Many of the people I've spoken to, from Raqqa, Idlib and Homs have become numb to violence in Syria, but their treatment in what is supposed to be a place of refuge is hard to bear.'

The link rosequartz gave in her post of 9.53 is very interesting, too.

nigglynellie Fri 11-Sept-15 15:35:12

Oh dear OH dear! this is truly terrible, and another looming problem for these poor people is the approach of winter. The weather now is very wet which is making it completely awful. I have no idea what the answers are, it will take a wiser head than mine to even begin to get some sort of order into this most desperate of situations. I saw the report coming out of Yemen on BBC2 last night, and again it's completely shocking. I can't begin to understand how these barbarians minds work on all sides, it's just beyond me. As a side line NI is kicking off! I despair!!!

A migrant on the boat where the children drowned has accused the father (of the children) of being a people trafficker. She said he was in charge of the boat.

nigglynellie Fri 11-Sept-15 16:18:26

I read that too Petra. I really don't know what to think about it. I don't think anyone will.ever be able to say one way or the other, I'd like to think that this is very far from the truth, but I've simply no idea.

Gracesgran Fri 11-Sept-15 16:53:58

... so if you are asking me if I want to continue with it the answer is an emphatic 'no'!

Then stop. It's really very easy. smile

Gracesgran Fri 11-Sept-15 17:14:32

I definitely think I would rather be talking to such people than selling them arms Jen

As well as the holding zones being problem Ana someone was saying today that one of the reasons for people not going to the refugee camps nearer to home is that the are full to overflowing, rations have been cut and schooling is basically none existent.

It does make you think that politicians have be fiddling while Rome burned as it must have been obvious the there were going to be problems. Perhaps they never thought they would be as bad as this but they still seem very disorganised.

I wonder if we need a none politician to take up the baton.

Ceesnan Fri 11-Sept-15 17:57:59

Who would you suggest? Bob Geldof? Richard Branson?

nigglynellie Fri 11-Sept-15 18:17:52

Well now we are back in the realms of sensible rational conversation I thought I'd give it another go!

Gracesgran Fri 11-Sept-15 18:23:58

Probably not obvious Ceesnan but that was a reference to people complaining about Jeremy Corbyn talking to people seen as bad people.

Gracesgran Fri 11-Sept-15 18:27:37

Well now we are back in the realms of sensible rational conversation I thought I'd give it another go!

Another go at people telling people when they may or may not post and what they my post about and, indeed, the words they may use ... or posting about the topic nigglynellie. I do hope it's the latter. smile

Ana Fri 11-Sept-15 18:28:52

What was? Now I'm lost again in the foggy vale of oblique references which we're supposed to understand, presumably...

nigglynellie Fri 11-Sept-15 18:46:39

I give up!!!

Gracesgran Fri 11-Sept-15 21:06:24

If that is the end of the nonsense that winds through this thread - good.

Ana Fri 11-Sept-15 21:40:07

Well, having efficiently demonstrated your own ability to tell people when they may or may not post and what they my post about Gracesgran, feel free to continue the thread as you please. smile

rosesarered Fri 11-Sept-15 21:48:12

Yes, have fun GG, because most of us will be on another thread.wink

nigglynellie Fri 11-Sept-15 22:25:52

You sound a very angry and bitter person gg, I feel sorry for you.

Gracesgran Fri 11-Sept-15 22:26:26

Ana and rosearered I and others have tried to carry on the thread on topic but each time one or two of just a few posters tells me again what I may posts - or not - on this thread or criticises me personally.

All I do is reply. You tried to tell me what, when and how to post and I do not believe that is what a forum is for nor do I believe that GN has given you this power to dictate but you insist on going back to the subject. If you had stopped I would have had no need to reply and this would have ended long ago.

Gracesgran Fri 11-Sept-15 22:28:53

It's not looking good is it Jen and Cameron does not seem to be going any further with the help he is offering, sadly.

durhamjen Fri 11-Sept-15 22:34:15

You are right, Gracesgran.
The figures in the second half of that article are quite horrifying.
Cameron had time to go and watch a cricket match today - after insulting the people of Yorkshire - much more important. He obviously thinks he's done enough for the asylum seekers.

Ana Fri 11-Sept-15 22:34:42

A few of us were actually attempting to continue the thread along its original lines earlier today, Gracesgran, but you insisted on carping. The continuation of this ridiculous saga is down to you alone.
