**as a crash course in British politics

But who would you choose to overthrow Cameron rosesarered ?

rosequartz Mon 14-Sept-15 23:58:21

I did put it on another thread - it seems to be becoming a habit down under!

I have a lot of respect for Ann Clwyd.

rosesarered Mon 14-Sept-15 23:58:18

If they can do it there..... We can do it here!wink

Gracesgran Mon 14-Sept-15 23:39:10

Well done her for honesty. Let's hope the more people hear the more this happens.

I thought we had had an exciting few days but Australia seems to be giving us a run for our money. They have got rid of another PM.

Time for bed I think moon

Anniebach Mon 14-Sept-15 23:29:54

Supporters of the Labour Party may find this of interest. Ann Clwyd MP gave an interview to BBC Wales, she was honest, said she had not supported Corbyn but Cooper. She went to listen to Corbyn when he came to Cardiff and was very impressed by what he said, this caused her to change her voting intention and she voted for Corbyn

Gracesgran Mon 14-Sept-15 23:27:44

Your are right Jen and *Annie. The "old" media are getting very cross because he is not spinning to them but I think, at the moment, he is better building up the party. Most people don't care about politics (so they tell me) until just before an election. He will need to be seen and he will need to talk to the none media savy public but I think he has a little time yet.

Expect more emails and more on FB - that's my limit. I wonder what else they will use. I am now quite interested to see what questions come up a PMQs too because we know he has asked for feedback.

rosesarered Mon 14-Sept-15 23:04:52

This explains a lot, why Cameron always has a quill in his top pocket.

Ana Mon 14-Sept-15 23:04:10

Hmm...that's a point. I wonder whether the Corbyn gnashers will have a makeover now he's in the public eye?

rosesarered Mon 14-Sept-15 23:03:23

And no other politicians use email, fax, text etc.

rosesarered Mon 14-Sept-15 23:01:57

Whaaaaaa? So it's high tech Jeremy now? Perhaps he is really a robot.smile

Anniebach Mon 14-Sept-15 22:59:22

True Jen, and it's how he is keeping in contact with the public now . What a change from photo opportunities by Blair and Cameron flashing the Colgate ring of confidence whilst their spokesperson talk to the plebs

durhamjen Mon 14-Sept-15 22:35:18

The strange thing is that although people say Corbyn will take us back to the 80s, he actually won by the use of modern technology. That's how most people voted, and that's how he got most of his supporters.

Ana Mon 14-Sept-15 22:20:42

Ooh! A rebellious tory...grin

durhamjen Mon 14-Sept-15 22:12:53

One of the most rebellious Tories.

grumppa Mon 14-Sept-15 22:05:51

In my last post four asterisks were omitted after the.

grumppa Mon 14-Sept-15 22:04:26

Who the is Peter Bone? I had heard of Jeremy Corbyn!

durhamjen Mon 14-Sept-15 21:56:23

Could you imagine Peter Bone being chosen as the leader of the Tories, Grumppa?

Ana Mon 14-Sept-15 21:54:31

Well said, grumppa.

rosesarered Mon 14-Sept-15 21:47:02

Good one! grin

merlotgran Mon 14-Sept-15 21:43:02

Gransnet Socialist Cooperative grin

grumppa Mon 14-Sept-15 21:35:08

While not aligning myself with the Gransnet Socialist Cooperative I do have some sympathy for JC. Until the last few weeks he has probably entertained no hope or expectation of promotion within the Parliamentary Labour Party; indeed his record of ignoring the whips had virtually guaranteed that he would always be a backbencher.

In such a position who among us, similarly without ambition, would not have said deliberately provocative things, secure in the knowledge that they would never be used against us because of our unimportance?

But now he has had greatness thrust upon him he must not be surprised if his actions and words come back to haunt him. It comes with the pay.

POGS Mon 14-Sept-15 21:27:06

Oooh. How very weird.

rosesarered Mon 14-Sept-15 21:21:24

It's always annoying when people demand evidence and links to support anything, let's stick to what this is, a forum for older people to chat and share opinions.

rosesarered Mon 14-Sept-15 21:18:53

Exactly, and lots of us have long memories!shock
