The way government is carried out is, the public raise their issues with their MPs, who in turn, raise the issue in the House. That can't be changed just because one man thinks he's had a good idea.

Good for him! - time someone put a stop to that braying nonsense. Hooray say I!

whitewave Wed 16-Sept-15 15:15:03

Yes

jinglbellsfrocks Wed 16-Sept-15 15:13:43

Are you saying that all MPs in the house don't truly represent their constituents in parliament?

whitewave Wed 16-Sept-15 15:09:38

No that isn't how it has been done - that is the whole point!!!! DC will have great difficulty in trying to trash questions put forward by the voting public, and will have to treat questions from the voter and his "employers" with greater respect, and perhaps with the occasional answer, something he is very bad at.

whitewave Wed 16-Sept-15 15:04:33

I honestly didn't notice - hand on heart , neither did I notice what DC was wearing or anyone else for that matter. I guess if they had been naked or wearing fancy dress then I might have noticed but really in the scheme of things,.............

He reminded me of a headmaster of a National School in the fifties.

jinglbellsfrocks Wed 16-Sept-15 15:01:42

The reading out of questions from joe public just isn't how it's done. Why does he think he can change a procedure that's stood for God knows how long? He's a simplistic little idiot.

petra Wed 16-Sept-15 14:59:42

Jingle. You haven't been paying attention: we aren't supposed to mention his clothes. It was bloody awful though, wasn't it.

jinglbellsfrocks Wed 16-Sept-15 14:58:15

Oh now what? hmm Am I on the naughty step for being non-PC? Come off yer high horse.

whitewave Wed 16-Sept-15 14:58:10

Mp's will still ask questions that isn't changing. What JC is trying to change is the puerile nature of PMQs and to introduce a form of direct democracy. I can't think of anything to object in that

whitewave Wed 16-Sept-15 14:55:30

Oh dear jing

jinglbellsfrocks Wed 16-Sept-15 14:53:38

And can someone mention to him that his jacket is too big. He could get a homeless person in there with him.

jinglbellsfrocks Wed 16-Sept-15 14:52:25

I thought PM's QT was for MPs to put questions to the Prime Minister, often on behalf of their constituents. If JC is going to just questions sent in to him by the general public, doesn't that change the whole nature of parliament? confused!

petra Wed 16-Sept-15 14:50:50

I loved the picture of Cameron and Osborne. Their faces were like: how dare you come in here and try to change the status quo. I'm not a fan of JC ( although we both voted not to join Europe) but I do love it when people shake things up.

whitewave Wed 16-Sept-15 14:33:33

As I said on another post "people like me" * crun* I have sent in a question to my party about an issue which concerns me - peoples democracy in action! Seems a sterile activity to try and track down people like me - so the media find out me then whathmm
JC will now have breathing space for a few weeks, and will be able to decide how he wants to continue with PMQs

crun Wed 16-Sept-15 14:28:59

Presumably the hacks will be busy trying to track down who Paul, Maria and Stephen are now. grin

Ana Wed 16-Sept-15 13:13:35

Good job Ed Balls isn't still on the opposition front benches - I don't think he could have contained himself!

Devorgilla Wed 16-Sept-15 13:02:18

Well, I have to say that I was impressed. JC managed the whole affair quite well and it was a refreshing approach. It will be interesting to see if this style can be maintained. One tweet on it stated that it was quite smart in that it is harder for the PM to dismiss questions sent in by the public.
On the other hand JC did not challenge DC's responses. Think he will need to be prepared to do that at some stage.
Currently suffering from deprivation of the weekly 'blood-letting'. GO looked decidedly miffed he hadn't got his weekly fix of braying at the Opposition.
