Another climbdown from the Queens speech. Didn't take long did it?

This relates to our old friend TTIP.

Corbyn has said he will vote against the bill unless there is a clear safeguard to the NHS -at present there is none.

The Tories are intent on selling off the NHS to the Americans.

How long can we give them for a u-turn? Apparently in 2003 Gideon wrote a letter complaining about tuition fees and saying a conservative government would abolish them. This parliament they announced Fees will go up to £9000+.

What I find so worrying is that it is so easy to find total incompetence in the government. I would love to be able to read the history books in 30 years time, as they will definitely not be kind.

The other thing I was thinking about was the Queens speech.

You know for a Tory government who has finally managed to get a tiny majority after something like 23 years, you would think it was bursting at the seams with new fresh and innovative ideas. But no the speech was the thinnest I have ever heard, and repeated most of the plans from previous speeches.

Perhaps they understand just how toxic a Tory party can be, because they are in power but with very little enthusiasm from the electorate.

800 words in the queen's speech, and no, I didn't count them. Someone else did.

30 years, eh? Either dead or with dementia. Hopefully our children and grandchildren will be able to kick up a fuss.

Boris is a breath of fresh air in my opinion. I think you underestimate his popularity with normal working class people. He was London Mayor for 8 years.

Actually, he's anything but a breath of fresh air as far as Londoners are concerned. He hid the report on pollution.

I can see why people could think Boris was a breath of fresh air but unfortunately he is also a big dope that you could not trust to make any serious decisions. I always think he has a lot of growing up to do.

Ken Loach's new film about austerity has won the Palme D'Or.

Whether Boris is dopey or cunning, he's definitely only out for himself and can't be trusted.

I quite agree he cannot be trusted. If he thought it would have been better for his leadership bid he would be campaigning to remain - just out for himself and can turn turtle any time.

Hard to believe, Annie, that the last time Loach won was for The Wind That Shakes the Barley. That seems a lot longer ago than ten years. Mind, we saw that in York, so it couldn't be before 1999.

Barley was a brilliant film, as was his tv play Kathy Come Home and I loved Kes .

I look forward to seeing his new film, hope it shakes people up as much as Kathy did all those decades ago.

More government nonsense. So obvious that we will lose out if we sell off these assets, but Osborne can't see it.
Or maybe he can, but just doesn't care so long as the books look okay in 2020.
