Watching the news and there have been 2 separate incidents in Paris (one explosion near a football ground and one shoot out at a restaurant.). 4 dead so far. So awful. What is happening?

Anniebach Mon 16-Nov-15 14:13:13

Yes Petra, and as Ghandi said - an eye for an eye and the whole world turns blind

jinglbellsfrocks Mon 16-Nov-15 14:14:56

No soon. It would make no difference at all to IS. But it would be nice to hear. And TBH, a lot of them do.

rosesarered Mon 16-Nov-15 14:31:16

Why have we got all this pseudoChristian mumbo jumbo on this thread?

Anniebach Mon 16-Nov-15 14:35:41

Perhaps rosesarered, because soon as the same right as you to post her views and opinions, yes?

rosesarered Mon 16-Nov-15 14:47:47

Actually...... It isn't just stb. All the bible quotes and bits and bobs do nothing for the thread, which is about the attacks in Paris.I get sick of them,am sure am not the only one, we have religious threads but this aint one of them.

soontobe Mon 16-Nov-15 14:49:43

I for one will take your point rosesarered, and if I deem it necessary, I will start a thread in the religious topic at some future point in time.

jinglbellsfrocks Mon 16-Nov-15 14:51:21

For once I agree wholeheartedly with ab!

petra Mon 16-Nov-15 14:54:33

Roses. You had to know it would rear it's head. But I have to say I love it when the Christians disagree on their interpretation of the bible.

WilmaKnickersfit Mon 16-Nov-15 15:17:26

petra that quote always moves me.

I think moderate Muslims speaking out more about extremism would be helpful for several reasons. It would be a response to people who think all Muslims are a threat and not British enough. It would also be a signal to extremists like IS that they will not be cowed. Perhaps if more Muslims did speak out, some would stop feeling sorry for themselves and thinking about themselves as victims. It's about standing up and being counted.

There is a global Islamic peace movement called Ahmadiyya and you can read about it here and here . It's headquartered here in the UK and the Ahmadiyya Muslim Youth Association (AMYA), which is the largest Muslim youth group in the UK, meets annually to discuss promoting peace and religious tolerance - Muslim peace rally.

True rosesarered, not only soon, I have replied to her, I will not ignore her. So you don't want any religious posts on this thread, well as a pacifist I don't want any talk of bombing on this thread but unlike you I do not expect others not to post what I disagree with and unlike you I have no desire to control threads,

soon, quoted from the bible because it's relevant to her , I replied because I chose to . May I suggest less attempts from you to dictate who may say what and you ignore posts which do not meet with your approval

Ana Mon 16-Nov-15 15:59:28

rosesarered is not the only member to have expressed the opinion that this is not an appropriate thread to be quoting bits of the bible and comparing religions. There were several of us who mentioned it earlier in the thread.

rosesarered Mon 16-Nov-15 16:00:19

You may suggest whatever you like anniebach but it won't cut any ice with me.
I can't be the only poster not wanting this thread to turn into a religious battle of wits between evangelical posters.Time and place etc.
Never understood pacifists, leaving others to sort out the battles, but do have sympathy with consciencious objectors.

Lilygran Mon 16-Nov-15 16:02:01

Agree, Anniebach. And roses, faith isn't a kind of hobby. All the 'Bible quotes and bits and bobs' actually have meaning, particularly in the face of horror like the recent terrorist attacks.

rosesarered Mon 16-Nov-15 16:02:14

Wilma that was a good post.

rosesarered Mon 16-Nov-15 16:03:49

Cannot agree Lilygran I think it has no meaning at all with extremist killings.

rosequartz Mon 16-Nov-15 16:04:35

I have no desire to control threads,

Well, I mentioned in a post that I didn't think this was the time or the place and perhaps starting another thread might be a good idea, but I wasn't trying to control the thread, just express an opinion about how I felt
It felt a bit like going to a funeral and starting to talk about the wrongs that the deceased may have done in their life (as no-one is perfect).
A time and a place - but that is only my opinion.

Eloethan Mon 16-Nov-15 16:05:02

To say that this country will be a Muslim one within the next generation or two seems pretty alarmist to me. Muslims constitute 5% of the British population.

WilmaKnickersfit Mon 16-Nov-15 16:07:39

I am going to take a step back from this thread for a while. smile

Anniebach Mon 16-Nov-15 16:10:20

What about freedom of speech so many claim to be so important ? You are being unfair ,neither everyone is free to post their views and opinions or they are not, which is it?

Anniebach Mon 16-Nov-15 16:13:49

Ana, if parts of the bible are important to soons view on wars is she free to say this ? I don't agree with her views but it is her right to express them

rosequartz Mon 16-Nov-15 16:14:30

I'm not being unfair, just bewildered.
That's why I stopped contributing to the thread until now.

And will retreat again smile

Anniebach Mon 16-Nov-15 16:19:10

I am sorry rosequartz, but I think it unfair in a supposed Christian country a Christian is asked not to post her Christian views on war . Dear God it's no different to extremists silencing Christians even if a gun isn't being used, a sharp tongue is

rosesarered Mon 16-Nov-15 16:20:38

Me too, it has got bogged down in religion, when it was meant to be an expression of shock and sorrow for the people in Paris who were killed and injured.sad

rosesarered Mon 16-Nov-15 16:23:29

soontob is talking about it just now on a religious thread, which is much better.

rosesarered Mon 16-Nov-15 16:28:36

I am out of here too RoseQuartz
