Should we bomb De-ash/ISIS in Syria?

Blair took us into the Iraq war (to keep his American allies happy) and the Middle East was de-stabilised.
Its even more unstable and Cameron seems keen to send bombers there, presumably to keep his EU allies happy (given his negotiations...).
ISIS/DEA-SH thrive on chaos. They are a death cult aimed at hastening the end of the world. (Day of Judgement, Islam style).
Given the chaos in Syria and Iraq with all the different factions on the ground and Russia joining the throng in the air I cannot see why joining in would be either helpful or wise.
The poor civilians on the ground are now in fear of Assad, De-ash/ISIS and the bombs.
Cameron's arguments are thin.
Here are some more arguments on the other side voxpoliticalonline.com/2015/11/27/how-many-innocents-will-die-because-of-right-wing-labours-petulance/
Your MP will be heading back to their constituency to think about this over the weekend.
If you are against the bombing please, please write to your MP.
You can use this very easy site. You just type in your postcode and the site will ensure that your MP gets your email. They will be getting lots of emails on the subject so there is no need to be long-winded, so it's a 5 minute task. www.writetothem.com

Annie if you've only heard 'let's bomb em" you must be listening to a different debate than I am. I'm listening to Stephen Twigg now talking about the Syrian Refugee crisis. I don't yet know which way ST will vote but he is acknowledging arguments from both sides about the situation in Raqqa.

I think we'll probably find that he's out of his seat to join a march somewhere.

Gracesgran Wed 02-Dec-15 18:42:10

No one's fault I was just thinking we must all be getting quite tired. Someone just commented that JC was "out of his seat". Well I have been "out of my seat" a few times during the day so I don't know why she was surprised.

Oh someone has just said he applauded the Speaker remaining for all the debate - and he also admired his bladder and there was me trying to be subtle smile

whitewave Wed 02-Dec-15 18:34:24

Sorry gracesgran my fault, went off piste a bit. Back on now though.

Gracesgran Wed 02-Dec-15 18:34:10

Just watching an interview - is it really 15 years since the "War on Terror"

Anniebach Wed 02-Dec-15 18:33:28

No one has mentioned the buying of oil, the bank rolling of IS or which countries and banks are involved. It's just been - let's bomb em

POGS Wed 02-Dec-15 18:28:54

Well said Doctor Sarah Wollaston

She has caught word for word everything I have tried to say on GN but perhaps I didn't put it so succinctly.

Gracesgran Wed 02-Dec-15 18:25:16

Oh dear this was jogging along so well and it is a long day for us all to get through.

whitewave Wed 02-Dec-15 18:23:00

Aw shucks!blush

Iam64 Wed 02-Dec-15 18:22:55

I've been pressed by most speakers on both sides. How I wish that Alan Johnson had wanted to be the labour leader.
I thought Cameron made an error of judgement in his comments about terrorist sympathisers. I dislike the nasty behaviour mp's like Stella Creasy are being subjected to and felt AJ was right to make the comments he did about that.

Ana Wed 02-Dec-15 18:22:38

But wrong...

durhamjen Wed 02-Dec-15 18:22:37

It obviously still works.

durhamjen Wed 02-Dec-15 18:21:26

Yes you are, whitewave.

Anniebach Wed 02-Dec-15 18:20:45

Whitewave, I like it grin

whitewave Wed 02-Dec-15 18:19:17

Because I am brilliantgrin

Ana Wed 02-Dec-15 18:17:36

The association is still there though - and how do you or I know what dj meant to convey?

whitewave Wed 02-Dec-15 18:13:59

Oh I do ana I do

Ana Wed 02-Dec-15 18:12:42

If you say so, whitewave.

whitewave Wed 02-Dec-15 18:10:32

No ana you misunderstand. It is the arguments used -the character matters not a jot, except the context in which it used

Ana Wed 02-Dec-15 18:06:33

dj was obviously attempting, rather pathetically, to liken Cameron to Goering.

POGS Wed 02-Dec-15 18:02:02

janeinsworth

No argument from me, see my earlier post . She gave an excellent speech and I believe the better speeches such as hers , Alan Johnson and Yvette Cooper are all coming from those MP's who have held posts in defence positions whilst in government.

janeainsworth Wed 02-Dec-15 17:55:01

Not sure what the point of posting that last link was, dj.
It doesn't address any of the arguments for or against the bombing.

janeainsworth Wed 02-Dec-15 17:52:24

Listening to Margaret Beckett - inspired speech, she has swayed me to support the bombing.

POGS Wed 02-Dec-15 17:51:28

I thought the speech by Labour MP John Mann was perfectly balanced. He is voting no by the way.

He joined the bandwagon asking for an apology from Cameron for what he said. THEN he looked at his front bench and told them they should do the same over the harassment of Labour MP's that has/is taking place.

I believe it is true Stella Creasy did have to leave the house due to her staff receiving abuse. Interesting to know who or what organisation is so pathetic.

I say bandwagon because I felt that at the start of the debate the MP's who asked Cameron to give way were only interested in asking for an apology and wasted time, showed a lack of interest in the debate , made asses out of themselves by not asking any questions related to Syria or the debate. Thank goodness those who have spent more time in the house and looked like they are truely debating achieved to make their point they didn't like what Cameron said but they made their case in an appropriate manner by putting the seriousness of the debate/vote as their objective not as the others had done making it all about their personal hurt.

Anniebach Wed 02-Dec-15 17:18:23

Bombing Syria will not help, it will make the world a more dangerous place
