How many tablets do you take in the morning?
For a while now there have been reports of Labour MP's being bullied, harassed by left wing activists. They have been threatened with deselection, sent photos of dead babies to put pressure on them to vote on Syria etc.
Yesterday during the Syrian debate many Labour MP's made reference to this happening and Labour MP John Mann called for Cameron to apologise for his words but also said the Labour front bench should also apologise for the harassment the Labour MP's were recieving. Labour MP Stella Creasy literally left the debate to go to her office as the staff were receiving phone abuse and there were anti war campaigners causing them harassment. This point will be refuted by those who attended so we must all make our own decision as to whom we believe.
I mentioned in posts last night how disgusting I think this behaviour is on the Should we bomb Deash/IS thread. I genuinely feel very sorry for the Labour MP's and to be honest I think there is going to be more trouble ahead if the Labour Party do not back their MP's a little harder than has happened so far.
What gives people the right to assume their opinion , their view should not be doubted, not debated and must be adhered to or they resort to threatening behaviour. It is not democratic and I agree with those MP's and commentators who believe this wave of activism is a backward move for the Labour Party..

I do believe if there were a gang of 4 today, Williams, Owen, Rodgers etc there might be a stampede of Labour MP's joining? I would vote for them, we are crying out for a centre party, the Libs are all over the place.
Annie yes there are hardline troublemakers, what to do though? I find that depressing and I don't march, protest, get off my bottom, I can only imagine the frustration others who do put the effort in feel. And it alienates, yet again, all those who might care. I couldn't understand why the two young lads from Belfast were targeted in the last protest about the "gentrification" of London. They were running a small business, no one had to use their cafe, they were employing others. Their main crime amongst the protesters seemed to be they were a couple of "hipsters." The pictures of protesters wearing pigs heads I find sinister, intimidating. All depressing and a backward step from history.
thatbags, you voiced your fathers political views to support your views, perhaps best not to yes?
So true trisher, but few seem to view it this way . I do wonder how many have over the years demonstrated against injustice , I think few because they seem unaware there are people who attatch themselves not because they care about the cause , they just want to cause trouble. What has been written on twitter has been blamed on pacifists, anti war protestors, left wing supporters, yet not one person has been named
ab neither you nor I, bit especially not you since you didn't know him at all, have any right to suppose anything about what my father thought of Keir Hardy.
Yes, he did know about the history of the Labour Party and he was an active member of it all his adult life. He received an award for his services to the Labour Party, in a Tory stronghold no less.
But you can piss off with your 'supposing' about my dad. Bloody cheek.
It Is always the angle taken when anyone criticises Israel. Of course it isn't anti-semetic. There is also the slur of "being a friend of terrorists" best answered I think by Tony Benn who said he was the best of friends with a terrorist- his name?- Nelson Mandela! TB also said someone called a terrorist today will be a freedom fighter tomorrow. (And the state of Israel was formed by terrorists)
Is a person anti Semitic because they criticise Israel for their treatment of Palestine?
I am critical of America's gun laws , they claim it is their right to be armed yet so many gun killings of Americans by Americans , this does not make me anti American
Is it not too easy to dismiss the history of the beginnings of revolutions , we speak of communism but forget the birth, when ever there has been gross injustice people eventually fight back . The France had no problem with public beheadings
And no, I do not support Stalinism
It's the 1984 prediction about yesterday's friends becoming today's enemies that always strikes me Jackthelad, our relationship with Saddam Hussein to the letter. Then there is the proposed bombing of Assad's troops in support of the rebels. Now we are bombing IS. I wonder if at some point we will be supporting IS? I know it seems impossible now, but really given our shifting alliances I wouldn't rule it out completely.
There have always been bullies everywhere and it is up to each individual to stand their ground. No matter what colour rosette they are wearing. Do not make excuses for any of them. Of recent times I have seen much of George Orwell's predictions in Animal Farm and 1984 come true even as we all derided him as writing a load of rubbish. What I see happening on the political scene is Stalinist tendencies complete with purges and Red Guards. Some will not see it until it is their turn to be at the receiving end. Remember what was said about the Nazi's. They came for the Jews, but I was OK They came for Communists, and I was still OK and so on. Then they came for me. Who was there left to care?
soon, perhaps you would like to give the names of the abusers to the police,
Corbyn says he is against abuse “from whatever quarter it comes” and does not want to purge the Labour party. Yet he never punishes the abusers and warns MPs who defied him on Syria that “there will be “no hiding place”, which sounds like an incitement to purge to them – and to me.
This.
Iam, do you know that all the verbal attacks were written by pacifists and peace lovers?
On all sides of an argument I hasten to add.

I've had a quick look at the comments JamJar1. I agree with some of the posts about Facebook 'friends' posting vitriol against anyone who voted tory and more recently against Labour MP's who voted with the government on the decision to bomb in Syria. I've been deleting some posts because they're so aggressive and hateful in their criticism of any Labour MP who voted to bomb Syria. As I've said previously, I'm a NO to bombing Syria but I am concerned about the way in which many so called pacifists or peace lovers feel able to let their own dogs of war loose on people who don't share their views.
At the time of writing this the Cohen article is now showing, allowing comments, makes for interesting reading.
Cohen attacked those who opposed the Iraq war, he said those who opposed it were betraying the Iraq people, that he is now attacking those who opposed the bombing of Syria caused me to comment on his views in the Iraq war protestors
What dig at thatbags father, she spoke of her father, I replied.
You implied it ab as you well know.
I admire Nick Cohen for being brave enough to suggest that whilst JC insists he isn't racist, many of those he counts as 'friends' are certainly anti semitic. I'd missed this article, so thanks thatbags for the link and also to janeainsworth for your comments on Nick Cohen's support of the Iraq war.
What's the dig at thatbags' father? I don't get it.
No it doesn't disqualify him from saying what he did, did I say it did ? He is free to write what he wishes - as am I ?
Anniebach So what if he was? Does that disqualify him from commenting on events 12 years later?
There you go again, attacking the man and not what he is saying.
Nick Cohen was a strong supporter of the Iraq war too
thatbags, I am sure your father would have known the history of the labour party, the birth of the Labour Party , suppose he would have classed Keir Hardy a militant
