Cameron's Christmas message

Having read the headline perhaps Cameron can reflect on Christian values of faith, hope and charity and look to his conscience for guidance concerning the more unfortunate people both at home and abroad! Where is kindness, support and understanding in government policy? Is it really Christian to see people in poverty, the NHS a shambles whilst our leaders are revelling in their million £ homes and tasting all the good things life has to offer. Perhaps he thinks that charity begins in his home and doesn't extend further than his circle mates.

Anyway, my Christmas message is to help and support all those who are less well off than ourselves in whatever small way we can. Happy Christmas all and please forgive the grouch. (I'm an aetheist (spelling has deserted me on this Christmas eve) - I must be getting older!)

I want the boats stopped. And conditions improved in the camps. And sensible controlled immigration. And the wars stopped.

I don't remember "weeping buckets". Was that a poor attempt at sarcasm? You really need to 'try harder'.

Anniebach Sun 27-Dec-15 11:36:57

Jingle , you puzzle me, you weep buckets over a child's body washed up on a beach and yet do not want any buildings to house children in beauty spots because you want them preserved for your grandchildren

This is about a man telling the country to remember it's Christian beliefs but not practicing what he tells others to do.

What of the increase in British homeless teenagers ? Do Christian values not include care for these children , they are this country's future

durhamjen Sun 27-Dec-15 11:24:15

Actually, jingl, much of Cameron's money came from offshore tax havens, via his dad.

jinglbellsfrocks Sun 27-Dec-15 11:19:11

Ab do you really expect Cameron and his missis to use his own money to sort out the economy of the U.K.? Hardly realistic. I've no doubt he pays his way in taxes, and gives to charities.

We need well educated, intelligent, people to run this country, but no one can conjure money out of thin air. And this country really doesn't need more debt to pass on to the next generation.

Anniebach Sun 27-Dec-15 10:45:24

gillybob, Cameron's personal wealth has nothing to do with his hypocrisy when telling the country to think on Christian values ,

gillybob Sun 27-Dec-15 10:35:53

That's not what I meant by my comment Anniebach I should have made it clearer and said;

How can someone (DC) be accused of not holding Christian values because he is a millionaire, attended the best schools, wouldn't know hunger/starvation, will be warm this winter etc. ? If being astronomically rich means that "one" doesn't hold Christian Values then the Queen and co. Must surely be complete heathens!

My point has boing whatsoever to do with the queen liking/disliking DC . She probably doesn't give a flying fart who's in power as she (and her brood) will be okay (thank you very much) no matter what.

Hope that clears up what I was trying to say.

durhamjen Sat 26-Dec-15 23:52:37

Does the queen like Tories? She might have more respect for Corbyn than for Cameron. Who knows?

Who are these Tory bashing royalists?

Anniebach Sat 26-Dec-15 23:33:57

Does one have to be a Tory to have respect for the queen? What a strange view of many of the people in this country

gillybob Sat 26-Dec-15 23:23:28

I find it almost laughable that some of the biggest "Tory bashers" are royalists. tchhmm

Anniebach Sat 26-Dec-15 15:50:07

He did beat the queen to it though.

durhamjen Sat 26-Dec-15 15:26:40

But it's a much more important thing to discuss than whether people are housed properly and living with their families.

trisher Sat 26-Dec-15 12:29:17

But hardly "Christian"!!!

thatbags Sat 26-Dec-15 12:14:58

Re "thanking the turkey", actually it's common among hunter gatherers for them to honour and thank the animal they have hunted and killed for food, so not such a crazy idea after all smile

Anniebach Sat 26-Dec-15 11:15:31

Is a 92 year old woman going to bankrupt this country ? Can anyone one, no matter how much a Tory , claim this is Christian values?

trisher Sat 26-Dec-15 10:49:49

Cameron playing tribute to the people who cope with the homeless, sick and vulnerable for the work they are doing at Christmas is a bit like thanking the turkey for being Christmas dinner. They (and it) would much prefer not to be there at all! They are there because this government has failed to protect the most vulnerable, and lined the pockets of their rich mates. As for Christian values if he has them I prefer atheism and humanism thank you. His are probably selective anyway, bet he doesn't like the bit about the rich not getting into heaven.

Anniebach Sat 26-Dec-15 10:44:31

She would have been a victim of apartheid too , as supported by Cameron

durhamjen Sat 26-Dec-15 10:35:21

Conservative Christian values?

A Portuguese family of three has been found living in a garage, and being charged £400 a month for the privilege. It's in Leicestershire. The garage has been converted to contain a small kitchen, bathroom and bedroom/living room, but has no heating and no natural light. The tenants could have been trapped if there had been a fire.
Fortunately the council has rehoused them.

A frail 92 year old widow is to be deported to South Africa, after coming here to live with her daughter in 2014. Her visa application has been rejected. She has no family left in South Africa.
She was born under the British flag in 1924, and both her father and brother had fought for the British Empire. That does not count. What does is the fact that her condition is not deemed to be life threatening and can be treated in her country of origin.
Proud top be British? Not me.

Anniebach Sat 26-Dec-15 10:06:37

It would have been a jolly good idea if Cameron had checked what Christian values are before spouting off about living by them .

Luckygirl Sat 26-Dec-15 09:53:11

DC's messages........

Christmas message: love the poor refugees and help them with our Christian charity.

EU negotiations: if we take in any refugees, then we must make sure that they do not achieve the same standard of living as native-born Brits, by refusing them the same entitlement to benefits.

Anniebach Sat 26-Dec-15 09:30:58

Newsflash . Yes there is , two millionaires live there

jinglbellsfrocks Sat 26-Dec-15 08:53:13

Newsflash. There is no money tree in the garden of Number 10. hmm

durhamjen Sat 26-Dec-15 01:11:47

A better Christmas message.

durhamjen Sat 26-Dec-15 00:42:02

A shame he doesn't think about Christian values the rest of the time, then.

'In opposition, Cameron said it was “simply a disgrace that in the fifth biggest economy in the world we have people homeless, people sleeping on the streets, sofa-surfers, people in hospitals”.

But figures released on the last day of the House of Commons sitting before Christmas showed last week that the number of families with children living in emergency B&Bs in England rose by 45% in the 12 months to the end of September. This is the highest level in 12 years.'

From an article in the Guardian.

How harmless can a speech get?

jinglbellsfrocks Fri 25-Dec-15 18:57:55

Don't allow the shock to make you choke on your mince pies. tchhmm
