Food drops needed for Madaya

I do hope the aid will get through to the people who need it and won't be taken by the rebels who are surrounding the city.

For those who have shown interest.

I have been following 'Live' for the past half hour Parliament free view 131. Justine Greening answering an urgent debate 'Situation in Madaya Question'.

She has said that the aid due to arrive, God willing, in Madaya shortly is being sent by the UK. Again something the UK can be proud of. The questions and answers are Parliamentarians at their best, Not Partisan!!!!!

She is being asked re RAF food drops and she answers with a sound common sense and the danger is too great at this moment in time.

It is dreadful that starvation is used as yet another weapon of war. Assad has been bombing bakeries for a long time and killing people waiting in queues for bread, probably the only food they could get hold of to feed themselves and their children.
I also remember the skeletal faces of Croatians and Bosnians who had been held in concentration camps by the Serbs in more recent times.

All we can do, I suppose, in this instance is to support the Red Cross in their efforts to get food to this beleagured town.

Aljazeera is my channel of choice for good news coverage world wide. It really presents very comprehensive coverage.

I do hope this situation gets resolved and quickly. As a young child I was horrified by news coverage of the victims of the nazis in concentration camps and the sight of those poor skeletal people was the stuff of nightmares. This brings it all back

If you are interested try and watch the Inside Story slot. The debate between the studio front man and 3 guests on a link , one of which was a Red Cross spokesman , speak sensibly, rationally and puts perspective into such a very sad occurrence.

Assad and his allies such as Hezbollah are , well I won't say the word. Assad is doing this to his own people for heavens sake.

Just completely shocking!

I was in shock looking at the news reports about Madaya. Sick to the core of my being that I struggle with eating too much, while these poor souls are eating the leaves from the trees in an attempt to survive

This middle eastern war is such an explosive mess. All those poor little children, heartbraking.

The Red Cross are now going to be allowed in to distribute food there(according to radio 4)

I need that reminder too, Jings.

Remind me again why we went to war so many times without any good reason but did nothing to help those poor sods.

That's terrible. I hope the day comes when we see Assad et al tried for war crimes.

bags I saw the evidence of this war crime on last night's news. Ever since, the images have haunted me. What can we do to make a real difference?
