Dessimation of the NHS

Our town has just been informed that the powers that be intent to close our local A and E and ultimately our hospital. I live in a large town with a large university and this is unthinkable. The reason apparently is because of the debt accruing on a Privately funded hospital in the next town. I am shocked to find that this is occurring throughout the country mainly for the same reason I.e. Debts to private companies. I did not realise that the NHS is being privatised by stealth. Surely this is wrong.

www.theguardian.com/society/2016/mar/04/why-we-support-the-cross-party-nhs-bill

A letter from writers, actors and professors about why they support the bill which will have its second reading next Friday.
The bill is a private members bill started by Caroline Lucas.
You can write to your MP to ask him/her to make sure s/he is there to support the bill, so it proceeds to the next stage. Assuming you want to, of course.

Maps showing how each area of NHSE has fared over the last two years.
The North East was the only one in surplus in 2015. Can't wait for the update.

Private doctors and Private companies are raking it in at the moment- and enjoying the very riche benefits of this pre-planned debacle. Of course they all vote with a big C- win win.

granjura Sun 06-Mar-16 14:54:27

Once the NHS is destroyed- the prices for private care will soar, of course. Junior and other doctors, including GPs- are being very welcome in the private sector, with much better conditions and salaries- oh surprise. They are also taking on cosmetic surgery, another lucrative sector.

granjura Sun 06-Mar-16 14:57:58

Those we know- young doctors- all say it is sad and tragice- and put their hand up in the air and say 'look, the system is being sunk- so we will look after number one and jump whilst the going is good- don't blame us'.

This is a very interesting post.
Why does Jeremy Hunt always hide from parliament?
He makes statements but does not often answer questions or take part in debates.

Interesting that RT has got hold of the idea of the agency being sold off through Deloitte.

I was just directed to a report about pay for next year. It calls itself an independent pay body but its independence was limited to deciding whether staff should have a 0% or a 1% pay rise, or something in between.
Hunt, having just been awarded a 10% pay rise, and another one next month, accepted the report in full. Magnanimous of him.

"Why does Jeremy Hunt hide from Parliament"

Jeremy Hunt made a statement in Parliament 'yesterday ' after Prime Ministers Questions.

It was very interesting I'm surprised you missed the statement and following questions/debate Durhamjen. As you know it is available to view.

durhamjen Fri 11-Mar-16 12:52:03

I said that, POGS. I said he makes statements, but does not often ask questions. Perhaps you missed that.

Here's another problem for him.

durhamjen Fri 11-Mar-16 12:52:32

Sorry, meant answer questions.

POGS Fri 11-Mar-16 17:18:01

Not sure what you mean.

He made a Statement and then took questions and answers. I am not point scoring it is just making the point he does not 'hide away' as intimated.

www.mirror.co.uk/news/uk-news/tory-mps-talk-long-derail-7539627

This happened today. I watched it. Tories wasting time, repeating themselves on a bill which when voted on there were only 25 votes, so no quorum. The main four speakers were well known filibusterers.
Caroline Lucas's bill only had 17 minutes.

Have you checked how often Hunt is in parliament to debate NHS bills? He usually sends Gummer in his stead.

A petiton to stop the filibustering that nearly talked out the reinstatement bill.
It is getting over 1000 signatures an hour.

Caroline Lucas's response to the filibustering.

The bill is close to 100,000 signatures. Just a few more and it will be looked at by the committee.

10% of the NHS budget now goes to private companies.

Lazigirl Mon 21-Mar-16 15:08:25

Has no one picked up on David Laws revelation on the Andrew Marr show about NHS deficit figures prior to the election, and articles in Mail on Sunday and other papers, or has it gone under the radar with the champagne corks popping after IDS resignation? Perhaps I've missed another thread on it. Can't do links unfortunately, but it's very interesting.

whitewave Mon 21-Mar-16 15:13:04

Yes we've been talking about it on another thread lazi one of the political threads.

It means that the NHS is being funded not on anything based on reality but simply a figure plucked out of the air by Osborne

durhamjen Mon 21-Mar-16 15:50:22

Just watching the emergency debate on 131.
A Tory MP said that the people want what they voted for ten months ago.
They might want what they thought they voted for; but as so many lies were told then and previously, perhaps they do not any more, and would want a rerun of the election with parties telling the truth about what they promise.
David Gaulke is still telling lie after lie in parliament.

whitewave Mon 21-Mar-16 15:54:06

I think the red book is redundant - he just doesn't seem to want to admit it

durhamjen Fri 25-Mar-16 19:16:44

Why we should write to our labour party MPs and make sure they are in parliament to vote on this bill the next time it comes to the house.
As it will be about the time of the 48 hour strike, their minds should be concentrated on it.

Jeremy Hunt says that the NHS will be under threat if we leave the EU.
It's not under threat at the moment from this government, then.
I wondered where he had been hiding.
