Sad news this morning, record producer Sir George Martin has died aged 90. flowers

loved The Beatles, but apart from knowing that George Martin was their producer, never gave him a second thought like Jingl says.
Why make such a fuss about my post Tegan?
The man was 90, and certainly not part of most people's lives.

Having worked at EMI Records I was very aware of George Martin as was most of the record industry. In pre Beatles days he produced Peter Seller's records (Balham gateway to the South!) this was one of the reasons that the Beatles were delighted to team up with him. I don't think the Beatles were any more tinny than the Stones, whose early recordings sounded as if they'd been made in someone's bathroom.

I am sorry to see George go, it's another link with the past.

I think the Beatles were very lucky to have a producer as talented and unassuming as George Martin. These days they'd be lumbered with the likes of Simon Cowell. hmm
