I am into fighting for animal welfare, they feel pain, fear, discomfort and like us too they bleed

Apparently the code is being revoked on 27 April

I am not heavily into fighting for animal welfare and some of its extremes - but I do think that the humane care of farm animals is part of a civilised society and that abolishing the proper independent monitoring of this is a retrograde step to be deplored.

Best to turn veggie . Stand by for another foot and mouth outbreak

Self regulation never works. It leads to food scandals as well as poor conditions for the animals.

Had not see that whitewave - dreadful thing if it happens. It also makes you a wonder what they have up their sleeves is there is no EU protection for workers.

This has been mentioned on another thread, but I think it is important enough to warrant a thread of its own.

Farm animals are no longer to be protected by welfare codes. These are to scrapped by this government.

What sort of message is that giving to those farmers whose priority is not the animal welfare?

I despair! What is the matter with them. What else are they going to not care about?

I am not vegetarian, but worry about the meat I do eat and so always buy organic free range as I feel it is the best I can do if I eat the animal.

This can't be right.
