We can't possibly let this slip by!

Tory on Radio 4 this morning arguing that we can't tackle the "treasure islands" that we have sovereignty over as it will lose people jobs!
I was astounded. So it is fine for the Steel workers to face penury but not those who help the wealthy to hide their money.

DC implicated - won't be long before GO is mentioned.

Eloethan grin my response to djen was meant to be a joke! Eee, I don't know, there seems to be a distinct lack of humour on here some days.

durhamjen Sun 10-Apr-16 22:14:09

I thought that when I read POGS last post, roses.
I do not think anyone would be satisfied with Cameron's last tax return.
If that was all he did, we'd know he had more to hide.

However, we trust the Scottish ones. I wonder why?

durhamjen Sun 10-Apr-16 22:16:01

But actually, roses, this is a rather serious thread for a reason.

durhamjen Sun 10-Apr-16 22:17:29

By the way, I do hope your next holiday is going to be in the Durham Dales, or at least north of the M62.

durhamjen Sun 10-Apr-16 22:39:46

Guardian headline - HMRC chief was head of Cameron fund lawyers.
So not just, accountants but lawyers. Very cosy.

durhamjen Sun 10-Apr-16 22:44:36

POGS, surely you can find out about the ICIJ on their website.
It's less secret than Cameron's offshore funds.

Anniebach Sun 10-Apr-16 22:45:09

Heard that Jen and HMRC have just released a denial , a must read

durhamjen Sun 10-Apr-16 22:55:17

Read this as well, Annie.

durhamjen Sun 10-Apr-16 22:56:47

They did not deny it then. Maybe Private Eye is not seen as important as the Guardian front page.

How odd you find my post was a joke Durhamjen.

I was quoting your words after all. confused

Yes I have looked up ICIJ and all I can find is connections to The BBC, The Guardian and Sunday Times when it came to the UK members of the consortium.

Who do you think has leaked/hacked into the data held by Mossack Foseca or is it not of any interest to you.

This is possibly worse than Cameron.
I'd like to know how much of this offshore stuff relates to arms trading.

Anniebach Sun 10-Apr-16 23:26:47

So Jen, the guardian and private eye say yes.

So he was a partner in Simmons and Simmons who acted for Blairmore Holdings but didn't deal with them personally

Lot of flying pigs around

POGS Sun 10-Apr-16 23:31:19

I have read your last link Durhamjen and I am a fan of Aljazeera in general.

I am confused however with this link, why, it states this :-

So far, David Cameron has declined to comment on the involvement of his father in these offshore schemes, but he will have to face heavy fire in Parliament and with media with a certain impact on the end of his time in office'

durhamjen Sun 10-Apr-16 23:32:43

www.icij.org/journalists/by-country/Britain

durhamjen Sun 10-Apr-16 23:35:28

It was written on the eighth, POGS.

The next paragraph was more important.

Over the next couple of weeks, the Panama Papers will offer us a survey of the healthiness of domestic institutions in countries where elites have been compromised. From authoritarian regimes where the news will hardly be debated to vibrant democracies in which heads of state will be held accountable and might eventually have to step down.

POGS Sun 10-Apr-16 23:40:39

Your point being?

All I see is Guardian, BBC and Sunday Times or are you thinking the one from Reuters and the other two who are independent journalists will prove a point.

Am I missing something beyond the latter?

POGS Sun 10-Apr-16 23:44:07

So is your reason for posting a dated link lies in the believe you are of the belief Cameron will have to step down. ?

durhamjen Sun 10-Apr-16 23:51:17

Yes, you are missing something.

Paul Myers does this;

These days, his role sees him organise and deliver training courses related to internet investigation, digital security, social media research, data journalism, freedom of information and reporting statistics. He has trained personnel from the BBC, the Guardian, the Daily Telegraph, the Times, Channel 4, CNN and many non-media companies and international organizations.

I saw Yorkshire TV, Richard Bilton, Granada/ World in Action/ London City Unversity.
If you look at the nine names, two of whom work for the ST, two for the BBC and one for the Guardian, you will see it says more after each synopsis. Then you can see who else they work for.

Happy reading.

durhamjen Mon 11-Apr-16 00:00:16

No, I'm not really interested in who leaked the information.
i hope whoever did it is proud of spotlighting the corruption involved in so many countries. I hope the PM of Iceland is only the first to step down.

Cameron said sunlight is the best disinfectant.

POGS Mon 11-Apr-16 00:00:20

Ah , so one independent journalist who is a consortium member delivers training courses these days to other media companies.

We will have to agree to disagree DJ others will establish their own thoughts I'm sure, if it is of interest to them.

POGS Mon 11-Apr-16 00:06:10

You may have a point re not being interested in who/what organisation hacked/leaked the Panama Papers but I will be very interested to know if it does turn out to be American Intelligent Services.

Eloethan Mon 11-Apr-16 00:31:13

"Of course, I had forgotten that it was considered a crime by Socialists to live anywhere leafy and nice like the Cotswolds and surrounding area".

rosesarered You say the above remark was a joke? I don't get it.

Anya Mon 11-Apr-16 07:33:44

Well if you get your wish DJ and Cameron was forced to step down, then the 'leave the EU' campaign will undoubtedly be in the ascent.

Makes it almost certain this leak was strategically timed.
