We can't possibly let this slip by!

Tory on Radio 4 this morning arguing that we can't tackle the "treasure islands" that we have sovereignty over as it will lose people jobs!
I was astounded. So it is fine for the Steel workers to face penury but not those who help the wealthy to hide their money.

DC implicated - won't be long before GO is mentioned.

I do hope that the £50 notes burned in front of the homeless by members if the Bullingdon club wasn't some of tax due, from stashing their money offshore.

Anniebach Thu 07-Apr-16 10:04:41

Where else would they have got their pocket money , suppose being in the Bullingdon their cash meant allowance not pocket money

Anniebach Thu 07-Apr-16 10:11:06

If Dyson is named please , please post it, please

whitewave Thu 07-Apr-16 10:42:39

There are a lot more names haven't seen Dyson yet. Sarah Fergusen is named. She was happy to live on the tax payer whilst she was a member of the royals though, where did she think the money came from. There wouldn't be much if we all did what she has done.

"David Cameron’s father took detailed legal advice about the pros and cons of different tax havens before the fund he had helped set up was transferred to Ireland, the Guardian can reveal.

A leading international law firm wrote an analysis of the Cayman Islands and Bermuda as possible places to host Blairmore Holdings Inc, as it considered whether to “migrate” the investment fund from Panama.

Blairmore was moved in June 2012 to Ireland – another tax haven with many of the advantages of offshore jurisdictions.

The Panama Papers highlight how Blairmore’s directors wanted to continue to avoid paying UK taxes at a time when David Cameron was already the leader of the Conservative party.

And the move to Ireland came in the same month as Cameron, by then prime minister, was railing against tax avoidance schemes, describing them as morally unacceptable.

“Some of these schemes we have seen are quite frankly morally wrong,” he said."

This is even better than Dyson.

This is very important, too. Mossack Fonseca say they have not broken any laws in over forty years. They plead ignorance despite the evidence. They are liars.

As far as the Bullingdon Club goes, wasn't it their parents who paid their costs after they trashed restaurants?
Obviously it was tax money that paid for it.

Talking about tax, apparently we pay all living former PMs £115,000 a year for life. So Dave will not be too badly off when he claims it.

All of them Major, Blair and Brown have claimed the maximum up to now, and they do not have to say what they spend it on.
However, a judge has now said that they have to let us know in the cause of greater transparency.
The cabinet office will appeal.

Apparently DC is buying the house in Chipping Norton he bought it when he became an MP and the tax payer is paying the interest. The house he rents is in Kensington not Notting Hill as I first thought.

"For 40 years Mossack Fonseca has operated beyond reproach in our home country and in other jurisdictions where we have operations. Our firm has never been accused or charged in connection with criminal wrongdoing."

Translation - for forty years they have got away with it.

Robert Peston is stcking up for the Camerons. Is he after a knighthood, or a lordship?

whitewave Thu 07-Apr-16 11:59:45

Probably has an off shore account

durhamjen Thu 07-Apr-16 12:02:05

Someone will find out if he has, now he's stuck his head above the parapet.

"The UK’s financial regulator has handed banks and financial businesses a deadline of next week to check if they have links to a law firm at the centre of the Panama Papers leak.

The Financial Conduct Authority has told banks they have until April 15 to investigate whether they have ties to Mossack Fonseca or firms which are managed by the company, according to a letter seen by the Financial Times. "

This is going to be intriguing.

whitewave Thu 07-Apr-16 13:39:19

Well its a start what about all the other companies dealing and aiding in these issues? Apparently there are loads of them.

I am not a great fan of Gordon Brown or most of his then Labour colleagues, but this is what the Telegraph said back in 2010 regarding Prime Ministers' pensions and what GB claims:-

"Regardless of how long he or she serves, any former Prime Minister is entitled to half his £194,250 salary index-linked against inflation for the rest of his life. Mr Brown voluntarily waived his right to this payment – but the entitlement remains in legislation for whoever his successor might be; even if they only hold the post for a few months." (I think there might be some sort of review taking place as to the fairness of this sort of arrangement).

"........ Gordon Brown and Jack Straw have entered into voluntary agreements, which means they have refused to benefit from the arrangement regardless of legislation.

"Mike Warburton of accountants Grant Thornton commented: “Whatever the outcome of the current negotiations to form a coalition government in this hung Parliament, we now have the prospect of a party leader, elected or otherwise, taking residence in number 10 and finding his or her stay is a short one.

“That will not prevent them immediately qualifying for a 50 per cent index-linked government backed pension for life. It makes the cries in the various political parties’ manifestos for ‘fairness’ ring rather hollow as we all prepare ourselves for a period of austerity.”

According to an article in the Daily Mail in 2012, David Cameron has also waived his entitlement to half his salary, index-linked against inflation for the rest of his life.

However, the DM also reported that Tony Blair receives £75,000 per year (which will increase as it is index-linked against inflation) and £115,000 for "public duties" (whatever that means), plus £250,000 per year for "security". In my view, for someone who has an estimated fortune of £30 million, he has got some nerve.

Good grief! There are some people who are greedy and there are some people who are VERY GREEDY!

Anniebach Thu 07-Apr-16 19:21:02

No surprise with Gordon Brown, a good man with a great sense of humour and much compassion. The Blair coven and the Tory press attacked him and people believed what was written

daphnedill Thu 07-Apr-16 21:33:29

Oh dear! For an ex-PR man Cameron has really messed up!

He's finally admitted he did have shares in his father's company, but sold them before he became PM. It wasn't a massive amount of money, so why didn't he just man up and say he wasn't responsible for what his father did and admit he'd had the shares, but realised it was morally wrong to hold them?

He could even have paid the capital gains tax on them and I don't suppose it would have dented his finances much.

I'm afraid it doesn't look good and I'm sure there will be people scrutinising every one of his publicly available financial statements.

Personally, what gets me is that this man and his followers have the b****y nerve to lecture the rest of us about 'the right thing to do'.

Anniebach Thu 07-Apr-16 22:27:35

He really is a toad, wouldn't be at all surprised if he didn't resign after the referendum

whitewave Thu 07-Apr-16 22:32:44

Dear oh dear - one lesson on how not to behave once you've been rumbled.

George Osborne is sitting tight I notice - as usual. No answers as to why his family company has paid no UK tax for the past 7 years.

This is brilliant.

Isn't Osborne and Little registered in Ireland, a tax haven?

Apparently authors do not have to pay tax in Dublin. Osborne does create a lot of fiction, doesn't he?

Another petition to sign for Cameron at next months meeting to stamp out corruption.
Sign them all and he might get the message.
