I come and go on Gransnet and have just returned after a break to find some really interesting topics. durhamjen is so up there with all the facts and must do such a lot of reading. She knows just how to put her finger on relevant information which is very useful to us all on here. She's evidently a driven woman - ideal for the above post. whitewave would make an admirable deputy.

Stop them working such long shifts

NotTooOld Thu 07-Apr-16 15:58:39

Yes, that does seem the best idea, Teetime. Let's not delay too long, though, or they may all emigrate to somewhere else.

Teetime Thu 07-Apr-16 15:34:26

Well what we in government usually do with doctors is give them the money - eventually.

NotTooOld Thu 07-Apr-16 15:12:21

What has the new Health Minister decided to do about the doctor's strike, please? I don't think we should let it go on like this.

WilmaKnickersfit Thu 07-Apr-16 15:01:42

Ginsters is another company trying to pass the costs of the new National Living Wage on to the employees.

B&Q are trying to do this as well.

WilmaKnickersfit Thu 07-Apr-16 14:59:37

Melton Mowbury is in the next county to me, so I'll go along with that. grin

Teetime Thu 07-Apr-16 14:46:10

It does indeed have a Pedigree factory and was the largest employer in the town but its all automated now and hidden away behind landscaping. It also has a large pork pie and associated products (Samworth/Ginsters) factory again beautifully landscaped and no smells from either we only get pong from whatever the farmers put on fields like anywhere else. The Arla (Tuxford and Tebbit Stilton and Red Leicester cheese factory is right in the middle of town) - its just a dairy processing plant again no smells. Just for the record I don't eat or even like any of this stuff . Why am I saying all this? Anyway the council offices I am commending to you are a modern glass box between the park and the railway station which is very twee with a nice signal box and we get steam trains as well. I will shut up now - don't know what's got into me.

rosesarered Thu 07-Apr-16 13:30:29

Melton Mowbray DOES have a large petfood factory btw ( what do you think goes into the pies?) joke.

Anniebach Thu 07-Apr-16 13:13:36

Time with the working class would help them see the real world. Expect
Cameron and Georgie think junior ministers are working class

whitewave Thu 07-Apr-16 12:50:47

No that's pies DJ although.......hmm

durhamjen Thu 07-Apr-16 12:04:41

Is it Melton Mowbray thast has the pet food factory?
Don't fancy that.

Teetime Thu 07-Apr-16 11:56:16

I'm making a bid for Parliament here in Melton Mowbray as we are about central and we already have a huge new barely used building 9they call it the Council offices but not much goes on in there). While we are at it I was once told by the Chairman of a large meeting I was addressing when working as a Nurse Manager that I should be Minister for Health so if Galen already has the job can I be her deputy please?

whitewave Thu 07-Apr-16 11:55:53

Oh annie us elite don't want to be tainted by the working class

Anniebach Thu 07-Apr-16 11:50:44

Port Talbot, let them sit in a ruined , poverty stricken, industrial town

WilmaKnickersfit Thu 07-Apr-16 11:47:39

I'm going to do that next week in North Wales. wink

whitewave Thu 07-Apr-16 11:36:06

So that it can't be knobbled by all those London types and we can sit serenely gazing out to sea making tremendous and important decisions.

WilmaKnickersfit Thu 07-Apr-16 11:33:54

whitewave why move it as far away from the rest of the UK as possible? confused

NotTooOld Thu 07-Apr-16 11:27:52

Ooh, yes, Cornwall would be good. As Business Secretary I would agree with that. They need the jobs down there.

whitewave Thu 07-Apr-16 06:28:10

Personally I think Westminster ought to remove itself to a neutral territory altogether I vote for Cornwall.

You can see how well this is going to work - just see how we agree as to where it should be.

WilmaKnickersfit Thu 07-Apr-16 02:27:35

it's = its - grrr.

WilmaKnickersfit Thu 07-Apr-16 00:00:54

If England is granted it's own parliament, then it could be based in London. The UK parliament could then move to somewhere in the north west of England which would be the region closest to all 4 capital cities in the UK.

lynnie1 Wed 06-Apr-16 23:50:06

Don't know much about sheep Annie, but I lived in SA perhaps I could be something to do with diversity ? I have bags of experience of intolerance

durhamjen Wed 06-Apr-16 23:45:26

They do have a vegan shadow minister, don't they, so it could be a vegetarian or vegan, as they would show concern for animals.

Anniebach Wed 06-Apr-16 23:38:56

You have my support Wilma, I think we are forming a great government. Who is up for Agriculture?

WilmaKnickersfit Wed 06-Apr-16 23:35:07

Put me down for Social Security. I worked there long enough to stop money being wasted trying to reinvent the wheel and making the same mistakes on every new project or initiative because some bright young thing thinks they're the first ones to with a particular idea. Let me know if I have to come up with green or white papers on the reforms to persuade you to support my bid for the Cabinet. grin
