A rare event, but don't be alarmed!

As many of you know, it is very rare for me to do political stuff, (usually stick to cat stories, underwear mishaps and wheelie bin incidents) but couldn't resist this! grin

I saw this earlier today , and part of me thought gringringrin but another part of me felt the children were being exploited hmm

Luckygirl Fri 08-Apr-16 18:58:57

I am just watching this on TV - I think it is gross. What must the children be learning from this? I would not have allowed a child of mine to be part of it. I think it is an error of judgement on the part of the Green Party. They have shot themselves in the foot.

Sorry to be a stuffy old git. sad

phoenix Fri 08-Apr-16 19:07:53

Oh dear, looks like I got it wrong again.sad

nigglynellie Fri 08-Apr-16 19:19:23

I agree Luckygirl. It was completely tasteless, pathetic and frankly ridiculous.

Luckygirl Fri 08-Apr-16 19:20:05

No - you didn't get it wrong! We all look at these things differently.

What I found distasteful was directing children to kick flowers, play games with models of weapons of war etc. Not great in my book!

nigglynellie Fri 08-Apr-16 19:20:40

I'd be saying exactly the same if it had been Jeremy Corbyn and let's say, John MacDonald.

obieone Fri 08-Apr-16 19:23:47

Not sure what to think. Do party political adverts ever persuade anyone to change allegiance at all?
I presume they do in the USA, but not sure they do here.

NfkDumpling Fri 08-Apr-16 19:32:15

I rather enjoyed it! It won't persuade me to vote Green though.

I don't think it'll effect the children. To them it'll just be another fairy story.

NfkDumpling Fri 08-Apr-16 19:32:36

Affect.

NfkDumpling Fri 08-Apr-16 19:34:05

Or is it effect? Second glass of wine!confused

jinglbellsfrocks Fri 08-Apr-16 19:39:25

I think it was quite sweet. Just a bunch of cute little kids obviously enjoying themselves. What's not to like about it?

jinglbellsfrocks Fri 08-Apr-16 19:40:43

Lighten up Lg. They weren't doing anything that they wouldn't do in their games anyway. grin

jinglbellsfrocks Fri 08-Apr-16 19:41:33

Don't all boys "play games with weapons of war"? confused

merlotgran Fri 08-Apr-16 19:44:39

I thought it was funny grin

The kids were great.

Deedaa Fri 08-Apr-16 21:47:58

Well I liked it. I don't think you can describe home made cardboard rockets as Weapons of War - they were just having fun.

rosesarered Sat 09-Apr-16 00:04:22

I thought it was mildly funny, but think the Greens are even funnier.

ninathenana Sat 09-Apr-16 07:16:16

I saw this last night, I thought it was a clever concept and it did make me smile.

thatbags Sat 09-Apr-16 07:21:03

Minibags sent me a link. I did not like it at all and I feel a bit disgusted with the Greens for orchestrating it.

sunseeker Sat 09-Apr-16 07:25:02

I think the children probably had a great time but did find the whole thing silly and pointless. Instead of making fun of other political parties I would have preferred to hear how the Greens would actually make their policies work.

Luckygirl Sat 09-Apr-16 09:28:42

I agree with bags - and also with sunseeker's point. I too am fed up with politicians' propaganda consisting of rubbishing other parties rather than telling us of their plans and achievements.

Elegran Sat 09-Apr-16 09:49:05

It is a lot easier to rubbish what someone else is doing than to do better yourself. Airy-fairy rhetoric is cheap.

I was considering voting for the Green Party in the next election until I saw this ad. If it was meant to make a serious political point then it has clearly failed. I want to be convinced that Green policies will be good for the country but this ad is telling me that they are simply the best of a bad lot. So disappointing. I will have to think again about who to vote for.
I don't think the children are either sweet or exploited. I think they are actors from a stage school.
