According to fullfact, the government cannot meet its immigration target unless we leave the EU. However, the target was unrealistic in the first place. If we leave the EU and then do not allow any EU citizens to come in, the non-EU migrants will still be nearly twice as high as Cameron's idea of reducing immigration to fewer than 100,000.
Therefore, if immigration is your main reason for leaving the EU, that's what you should vote for.
On the other hand, Cameron told a lie to get reelected last year, because he knew that it would be impossible to reduce immigration to fewer than 100,000.
Brexit knows it, too.
How many people want to stop immigration altogether for a few years to address the problem?
Or do you want to send those who are legally here already back to where they came from?
People have to think about what they really want from immigration. We cannot say only those really well qualified can come here to stay and the rest have to go back home.
We also cannot say we only want white people who can speak English really well.
