You didn't think I would ignore this did you?

Welshwife Tue 07-Jun-16 19:18:51

I voted a week ago and am definitely not regretting the way I voted.

durhamjen Tue 07-Jun-16 19:15:33

Is there anybody who has already voted who is regretting that decision?
Are you still watching all the debates?

durhamjen Tue 07-Jun-16 19:09:05

It was on Huffington Post & Guardian site but was on BBC 6pm news.

Gracesgran Tue 07-Jun-16 18:31:02

Lazigirl if you can give me a clue where you found it - name of site, etc. I will try and find a link smile

Alea Tue 07-Jun-16 18:24:35

Ooh a massive and inaccurate generalisation.
On GN at least the vitriol has been dished out every bit as much- as it happens I think more- by some of the Remainers. Their spurious assumption of moral or intellectual superiority has been singularly unattractive. Members' genuinely held opinions or their questions and fears have frequently been rubbished or summarily dismissed.
There have been some outrageous claims in RL and scaremongering by both sides, but rudeness, intolerance and haranguing will never convince me the rightness of any argument. In RL however I have listened for example with respect to what Gisela Stewart says also Hilary Benn among others.
Link after link will not convince me either side is right, I like the analogy quoted that the EU can be seen a bit like a marriage, some of it living up to expectations , some of it disappointing. Whether the final decision is to be to work at the marriage or cut and run is not black and white and unlikely to ever be painless.

Interesting article this. There are no facts in the Brexit debate, so people should just stop asking for them.

Welshwife Tue 07-Jun-16 18:17:51

That is a nice way of putting it varian

varian Tue 07-Jun-16 18:06:03

I hope any GNetters who are undecided find the time to read all the relevant threads and judge by the tone of the posts.

The Inners have posted many factual references and have avoided personal insults but I'm afraid that some (obviously not all) of the Outers adopt a different tone, they dish out insults, imply that the Inners all have a vested interest and take offense for no reason at all.

There is a new poster on another thread who is particularly offensive in tone. If I were a "not sure" reading it I would certainly be more inclined to vote Remain.

Welshwife Tue 07-Jun-16 17:12:27

gracesgran I think if I were an undecided I would read the threads just see what the opinions were of people passionate about each side.

Lazigirl that is very interesting about JW - he is a man of great principle.

Lazigirl Tue 07-Jun-16 16:58:34

Has anyone seen Justin Welby giving evidence earlier to Commons Home Affairs Committee? When asked whether he thought Farage's comments on Cologne-style attacks on women were racist, JW agreed that they were. He went on to say that they pandered to people's worries and prejudices........... I can't do links, but it's worth having a look.

Gracesgran Tue 07-Jun-16 16:56:10

I wonder if the undecided read these threads; I am not sure I would. I have just posted my vote and then thought about this going on for another two and a bit weeks - shock

Welshwife Tue 07-Jun-16 15:05:22

Once we have voted ourselves there is little else we can do really. The genuine undecideds will read, watch and listen and then decide but those who have already believed the spurious claims of Boris et al will not change their mind - unless they do it on the QT in the voting booth! All we can really hope for if the out vote wins is that we don't have too much of a recession - the children/GC can get jobs and the other countries are relatively kind to us!

Lazigirl Tue 07-Jun-16 14:59:19

I am taking heart from the fact that 1.3 million have very recently registered to vote, and over 50% are under 35years, and demographically more likely to be In voters.

varian Tue 07-Jun-16 13:03:26

I really hope he's right but I'm not at all confident about it. For the second time in two years I am seriously worried about the future of our country.

Someone on another thread suggested the Outers were optimists and Inners pessimists - it might just be true about me right now although I've been an optimist for most of my life. Fingers crossed!

Gracesgran Tue 07-Jun-16 12:52:05

I don't know if anyone else has been following this site . The chap concerned is the guy who called the general election correctly and this is his latest prediction

Currently his projection is:

REMAIN 54 (-1)
LEAVE 46 (+1)

jinglbellsfrocks Mon 06-Jun-16 23:08:22

I'm really sorry ww. I just can't hold back any longer.

strait

durhamjen Mon 06-Jun-16 22:58:13

"Former Foreign Secretary and Remain supporter William Hague, writing for the Daily Telegraph, says the Leave campaign "can't keep dodging" the question of what a post-EU economic landscape would look like.

He says the idea that the UK could stay in the single market but not have freedom of movement of people "is beyond ridiculous" because "the rest of the EU is never going to give us a better arrangement than they have themselves". "

Will Telegraph readers believe him, or Boris when he says it's b****cks?

durhamjen Mon 06-Jun-16 22:53:09

Hitachi boss has said they might have a rethink if we leave the EU.
That's the Northern Powerhouse down the plughole, then. Hitachi and Nissan. On the other hand there might be a lot of waverers vote to stay in because of that, particularly in the North East.
I read today that only 18% of our exports are goods.

Welshwife Mon 06-Jun-16 22:45:36

Strange statement celticrose - have you got anything to back that up?

durhamjen Mon 06-Jun-16 22:35:14

How could he have a job for life in Brussels?

Gracesgran Mon 06-Jun-16 22:34:18

I have started turning him off Annie. Journalism has reached an all time low with this referendum. The journalist seem to think they are the opposition not reporters.

CelticRose Mon 06-Jun-16 22:18:01

Mr C has already said he will not stand for PM again. Indeed, why should he! He could have a job for life in the undemocratic, un-elected parliament of Brussels. Plus he could earn more money on the after dinner circuit and writing his memoirs.

Anniebach Mon 06-Jun-16 22:16:48

Why diodes Neil bother to interview anyone, too fond of his own voice, pompous fool.
Yes he did try to stir up trouble, but failed - badly

durhamjen Mon 06-Jun-16 20:07:26

Anyone who is not sure needs to watch that interview, granjura.
Hilary Benn was brilliant. I actually had to shout at the television to tell Andrew Neil to shut up and let him finish what he was saying a couple of times.
Neil was really trying to get him to say he disagreed with Corbyn, but Benn was having none of it.
